1/3 Finally kicked off South Luangwa on my bucket list and what an experience it was with @KafuntaSafaris. Wonderful 6 days at it's main lodge and bushcamp. Impeccable service and care, amazing food catering to special requests and an unforgettable experience.

The total shutdown of the judiciary in Zambia is completely without precedent in Zambia and across the democratic world. Justice delayed is justice denied. We need answers

Let people be human.
They are not puzzles to be solved.
They are not case studies to be diagnosed.
They are not villains waiting to be exposed.
They are people.
Complex.
Contradictory.
Imperfect.
Becoming.
If we demand perfection before we extend compassion, we'll find ourselves living in a world where no one is worthy of either.

Leaving No one Behind: Why Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Matter for Everyone
Recently, a friend of mine sent me two flyers of panel discussions in the legal fraternity. All the panelists were men. ‘Is it just me or are there a lot of “manels” these days on webinars”? I told her that it was not just her, I have been noticing it everywhere from civil society to business to politics, women are quietly being erased from public discussions.
Nine years ago, I did a TEDx talk entitled ‘Where are All the Women’ (ted.com/talks/linda_kasonde_… ) . In one of my slides, I used a picture of Donald Trump signing an Executive order on women’s health and being surrounded only by men looking on as he signed. That’s the thing, representation still matters; most things that affect men also affect women. Subsequently, their voice needs to be heard and not just as moderators, but more importantly as thought leaders.
Following recent national 2025 Grade 7, Grade 9, and Grade 12 exam results in which certain girls’ results surpassed those of their male colleagues, the debate in Zambia has swung towards how we can uplift the boy child. In fact, this is an international debate as we see rising suicide and mental health problems amongst men and boys and declining progression at primary, secondary, and tertiary level. The answer to this problem isn’t: women have had their brief time in the sun, let’s go back to the way things were. It should be: how can we achieve equity?
For me the answer has always been inclusion or gender mainstreaming, which is a deliberate effort to achieve balance in all things. It’s no use only having women-only conferences to discuss how to advance the cause of women or have men’s-only conferences to discuss how men are falling behind; we need to get to a place where we are also talking to each other about these issues.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’. We must acknowledge that women are still behind on most metrics of advancement from the number of women on lists of the worlds richest people to the number of women representing us in government at the Executive and Legislative level. Now that men know how it feels to start slipping behind, this might be a good time to start working together for the progress of all. Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity should not be dirty words. They are essential for the peaceful co-existence of humanity. No one should be left behind.
Zedians,I am looking for anybody who has successfully applied to renew their passport via the @Zambia government online portal. Specifically want to hear from people who applied while outside the country and were able to succesfully pick up their new passport when they visited.
2/2. Our time at the Bush Camp was exhilarating as you overlook a river full of hippos and have an open chalet. There are ethnic Zambians in managing positions which was also great to see and I was proud of my people working on all levels.
3/3 The park is run very well and you get more of an intimate feel than in Masai Mara or Kruger. We also did a walking safaris which remind you that we are not the rulers of all, everywhere. Would thoroughly recommend Kafunta for a getaway to SL and #Zambia for your next safari.

Welcome to Issue 208 of The Continent
The discovery of gold find near Zambia’s West Lunga Park sparked a deadly rush. Thousands swarmed Kikonge, violence erupted, and illegal buyers moved in. Riches, risk, and chaos reign.

The love of Jesus compelled Him to pursue those who had wandered. Those ostracized from the religious community because of their own behavior or because of circumstances beyond their control. Religious leaders were content to wait. Arms crossed. They led with the Law. Jesus led with compassion. Because He knew their stories: “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband.” (John 4:16-18) Currently, very few of the most vocal evangelical “influencers” and “leaders” have ever pastored a church. They post and broadcast with arms crossed. Judging. Criticizing. Dividing. Ostracizing. Always “Biblical.” Rarely Christlike. Lots of “Gospel.” But very little Good News. I pray that changes.

The world will never know peace until we understand that “as long as there is injustice somewhere, there cannot be sustainable peace anywhere” and that, as interconnected humanity, “we are each others’ keepers and anchors of hope” . Hope and joy to you! #DailyThought🌼 #Blessings🤍
1/3 Mic drop yesterday, Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs DRC:
´ I had always believed these principles were our shared principles and these values were as much yours as ours. When it comes to defending the ideals dear to Europe, you do speak with one voice'.
2/3 'Without hesitation, without ambiguity, and with the strength of immediate decisions. So why, when we partners of Europe invoke the same principles, is the response a cacophony of hesitation and inaction?'
Why, when Europe asks something of Africa, it demands clarity and commitment, yet when Africa simply asks for the coherence of your values, it receives only caution and the complexities of internal consultations´.
