One of the strangest things about growing up is learning how to struggle without letting anyone notice. Yesterday, I was laughing with my friends, making jokes, and acting like everything was normal. We talked about money, relationships, future plans, and all the things we wanted to achieve. Everyone had something exciting going on. One friend had just gotten a new job. Another was planning a trip. Someone else was talking about buying a car. When they asked about me, I smiled and said, "I'm good. Just taking things one day at a time." What I didn't tell them was that I'd been lying awake at night, worrying about my future and wondering when things would finally start working out for me. I got home that evening, sat on my bed, and stared at my phone for almost an hour. I didn't even know what I was looking for. Maybe good news. Maybe an opportunity. Maybe just a reason to feel like I wasn't falling behind. The next morning, I opened social media and made the mistake of scrolling. Someone my age had bought a car. Someone else was celebrating a huge achievement. Another person had announced that they'd moved abroad. I was genuinely happy for them, but I couldn't stop asking myself one question: "How come everyone seems to be moving forward except me?" I started thinking about all the plans I'd made years ago. The things I thought I'd have figured out by now. The person I thought I'd become. And for a few minutes, I felt like I'd disappointed the younger version of myself.

I was stalking someone's Instagram profile like a professional investigator. Went through the pictures, checked the captions, studied the comments… I was doing serious research. Then I accidentally liked a picture from 2019. UNLIKED IT IMMEDIATELY.

My female boss called me into her office one afternoon and said to me “I don't care who you're dating. You're mine now.” I looked at her, wondering whether she was joking. Me: “Sorry, ma'am. What do you mean?” Boss: “Don't pretend you don't understand. I've been watching you for months, and I've decided I want us to have a good relationship.” Me: “We already have a good professional relationship, ma'am. I respect you as my boss.” She laughed and stood up from her chair. Boss: “I'm not talking about work. I'm talking about you and me.” Me: “Ma'am, I'm in a relationship.” Boss: “And? Did I ask you whether you had a girlfriend?” Me: “No, ma'am, but I thought you should know.” Boss: “I don't care who you're dating. I have money, influence, and everything a man could want. You should be grateful I'm interested in you.” I forced a smile, pretending I understood what she wanted, but I was deeply uncomfortable. Me: “I understand, ma'am.” Boss: “Good. I expect you to cooperate with me.” I left her office, hoping she would forget the conversation. But two days later, she came to my office without warning. Boss: “You've been avoiding me.” Me: “No, ma'am. I've just been busy with my work.” She closed the door and walked toward my desk. Boss: “You know, you don't have to pretend around me.” Me: “I'm not pretending, ma'am.” She moved closer and tried to kiss me. I immediately turned away. Me: “Please, ma'am. Don't do this.” Her expression changed. Boss: “Are you seriously rejecting me?” Me: “I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in this kind of relationship.” She stared at me for a moment before stepping back. Just then, my phone rang. I used the opportunity to excuse myself and stepped outside to answer the call. When I returned, she had already left. I thought the incident was over. I was wrong.
