#HBCUHoopsWeekly Early 2026-27 D2/NAIA Pre-Season Player WatchList:
15. Robert Alexander — Langston
6-1 G | Langston | NAIA — Sooner Athletic Conference
Alexander was a junior on Langston’s 2025–26 NAIA national-runner-up roster, and looks to be a potential breakout star for the Lions in the Post Chris Wright era. Alexander’s a 6-foot-1 guard from Little Rock that’s been part of a core of an NAIA powerhouse the past few seasons.
Langston finished 29–8 and reached the 2026 NAIA national championship game, making returning members of that rotation particularly important as the program transitions to a new coaching staff.
Why watch:
Alexander is less of a statistical-headliner selection than the players above him, but his leadership and experience will be essential for the Lions to continue with their ascent to capturing a Red Banner.

Russell Westbrook appears to be announcing his retirement after 18 NBA seasons.
“Sometimes you don’t even know when you’ve already watched the end.
You had to be there. And now it’s over.”
One of the most electric players the game has ever seen. 🥲

I’m proud of what our team did last season at Langston. We had a special group of guys that stuck together and handled a lot of adversity. I couldn’t be more thankful for their hard work and commitment.

🚨Breaking News 🚨
Chris Wright is the new head coach at Alabama State!
Absolute HOME RUN hire for them!! Coach Wright has found a niche at HBCU's. He took over a 1-27 Langston team, after a National Runner-Up year with Talladega, only to lead them to TWO National Title games in the past 4 seasons! Guy WINS!
Happy for @CoachCWRIGHT, Ally and the family!
