How the privatisation of the water industry has been a total disaster version 49,769. Over the next 5 years £22,047,000,000 of YOUR MONEY, funded through those recent, massive bill increases will go to service that steaming, corrosive pile of debt WCs have gotten themselevs into. Not fixing the leaky pipes, not proving a better service, not cleaning up the environment, simply to fund yet more corporate greed, financial engineering and incompetence. inews.co.uk/news/consumer/hi…

If you’re buying a car remember the dealer makes money from selling you finance as well as profit on the vehicle. If commission is high and secret it is a missale. Always ask for full disclosure of what they make and if there is a better deal around. A bank loan may be cheaper.

Congratulations Yorkshire Water! In the busiest week of the summer holiday you decided to belch sewage into three of the most popular beaches on the East Yorkshire coast around Bridlington and Scarborough. No notices. Just thousands of unaware families + kids swimming in sewage.

We should talk about money and value, and what @wesstreeting and @DHSCgovuk value and spend money on. Last week, the @lengreview found that PAs (medically unqualified assistants to doctors, with no unique skillset) function at a level below F1 (newly qualified) doctors 1/

To be clear about this the £100 billion to nationalise the water industry being branded about by govt this morning does indeed come from a think tank report commissioned, bought and paid for by; @AnglianWater, @stwater, @SouthWestWater and @unitedutilities It also uses a calculation that tries to claim that @thameswater is worth an earth shattering, gobsmacking £21,008,425,000.00. Utterly delusional. Why on earth ministers would want to be out there quoting any of this madness I've no idea.

The very fabulous Stanley Root, the retired audit partner from PWC who kicked @YorkshireWater's ass. Here's his work on @thameswater. All that nonsense about shareholders investing money into the company, it's rubbish, there is not a single year since privatisation that TW's shareholders didn't take out more money that they ever put into the company. Brilliant bit of investigative accounting. 👏👏👏 windrushwasp.org/single-post…

Guess what happens when you mess with a retired audit partner at PWC? You get your ass handed to you on a plate, wouldn't that be right @YorkshireWater. All hail Stanley Root ladies and gentlemen. 👏👏👏

From my extensive experience as a resident doctor (14 yrs) & my limited experience as a consultant mentor/ES/CS/dTPD (5 yrs), fundamentally what resident doctors want is to feel like someone gives a shit about them and their training. Otherwise it’s a bleak & dark place…

Death by a thousand cuts: a tale of how I got some noticeboards installed in a trainee room. As wellbeing lead i thought it would be nice to hang some notice boards in our trainee room, for regular updates on wellbeing issues. Seems simple no? Not for NHS front line staff. 1/

67% cut ✂️ to housing & communities isn’t borne by a Whitehall department; it’s passed directly onto local government. Council services are decimated, social care on its knees, prevention slashed resulting in huge rises in council tax & extra costs to the NHS. It’s all connected.
Just how large have been the cuts borne by Whitehall departments since 2010? This @resfoundation data gives the picture of the change in per person day-to-day spending between 2009-10 and 2024-25...

GP Gavin Shields, "We have far too many patients struggling to get GP appoints.. It costs more money in the long term" "We would like to employ more GPs and we know we have significant number of GPs unemployed, unable to find work" Victoria Derbyshire, "So employ more" Gavin Shields, "We can't because the core funding that goes into our practcies is not enough, and it has fallen in real terms.. And in England the contract says we are not allowed to employ GPs" Victoria Derbyshire, "Why not?" Gavin Shields, "We are not allowed" Victoria Derbyshire, "Maria Caulfield, what's the rationale for that? Why can't GPs practices employ more GPs?" Maria Caulfield, "The are roles for outher healthcare professionals.. That was agreed with GPs" Victoria Derbyshire, "So you can employ other people to help?" Gavin Shields, "We can't employ practice nurses"
