Carlos Mendoza has a new job ... and he's back in the National League East:

When I went out to left field last night at Yankee Stadium to ask around about the fan interference play, I ran into Zack Hample. He watched everything unfold from his spot in the back of the same section and didn't hold back on the fan who was ejected: nj.com/yankees/2026/10/famou…

The Rays had a base open with two outs and Luis Garcia Jr. (0-for-8 in the series) on deck ... this 0-1 hanging changeup can't happen from Nick Martinez. Rice makes him pay to tie the game at 1-1 with an RBI single. That's 9 RBI for Rice in five playoff games so far.

Yankees take the field for Game 3 of the ALDS with their season on the line. Surprised by how many empty seats there are here so far...

Mets announce a few changes within their coaching staff for next season... Jeff Albert, formerly the club’s director of Major League hitting, won’t be back on the big-league staff next year.

Still can’t believe this happened. Such a costly decision from Wells after breaking up the no-hitter. Also, unless I missed it, they never showed this or any angle with Rojas’ stop sign on the broadcast, right?

Drew Rasmussen against the Yankees this year: 4/12: 6 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 7 K 5/24: 7 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 6 K 7/9: 2.1 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 2 K 9/22: 6.2 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 3 BB, 11 K Tonight (ALDS G1): 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 10 K

The Mets got Jefferson Rojas, now their top prospect, from the Cubs for Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor at the trade deadline. Chicago was swept by the Padres in the Wild Card Series. Holmes was on the roster, but didn’t pitch. Taylor was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit single in Game 2. Holmes is expected to opt out and enter free agency this winter. Taylor is a free agent as well.

The Red Sox finally had some momentum when Contreras homered off Fried in the top of the sixth. Cut their deficit to just one run... The Yankees responded with a six-run outburst, batting around in the bottom of the inning. They've now outscored the Red Sox 17-1 in this series.

You know what they say about building your team up the middle and drafting/developing talent ... the Yankees did this in their first playoff game of the year last night: Austin Wells, C (1st round): 2-for-3, 2 RBI Cam Schlittler, SP (7th round): 6.1 IP, 0 R, 10 K, 2 H, 1 BB George Lombard Jr., SS (1st round): 3-for-4, 2 R Anthony Volpe, 2B (1st round): 1-for-3 Spencer Jones, CF (1st round): 1-for-3, 2 R Ben Rice, DH (12th round): 4-for-5, 2 HR, 6 RBI Just one game obviously, but that's an enviable spot for an organization to be in where you're extending a championship window with homegrown/controllable talent plus the resources to add via FA and trade as well.

Two homegrown Yankees against their hometown team tonight in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series: Ben Rice: 4-for-5, 2 HR (one was a grand slam), 6 RBI, 2 R Cam Schlittler: 6.1 IP, 0 R, 10 K, 2 H, 1 BB
