I like @msvivianrabbit's report back thread; it's good seeing what we need and how those needs occur and develop in reaction to local politics and movements, in both good and bad ways. So I'll start my own here.

Far-right groups are planning to stage something in Port Townsend tomorrow (9/3) because a lady was kicked out for yelling at a trans woman employee, asking if she had a penis, and generally harassing her.
Now they are sending violent threats to staff.
This must stop!

ALT He’s referring to an 18-year-old employee of the YMCA’s Mountain View Pool in Port Townsend, a small town that lies northwest of Seattle across Puget Sound. Three weeks ago, that employee was doing her job of supervising a group of kids when a patron named Julie Jaman began to hurl increasingly aggressive transphobic remarks at her. Other employees told Jaman to leave, but she later returned to picket the facility. Conservative media picked up the story, people started threatening YMCA employees, and now the entire facility has had to temporarily close due to those threatening messages.

‼️ Sweep Alert! ‼️
After an already overwhelming week of sweeps, a massive encampment (which pretty much only exists because of a series of sweeps in the ID) is scheduled to be swept by WSDOT, in collaboration with JustCARE, tomorrow morning.

The fun thing is that brain damage is like one of those surprise bags you got as a kid! But rather than cool treats its all things that get taken away from your life and bodily functionalty! You never know what brain damage will cause.

More than 80% of children have had COVID since June of this year, largely due to reopening schools without the proper health mitigations as only 20% had COVID in Feb 2021. The long-term health impacts will be staggering for this generation. Let’s not normalize repeat infections.

Thank you!! I'd like to see more urbanists talking about how "protecting" bike lanes and sidewalks is being weaponized against the homeless community.
