As schools close for long holidays, young/adolescent girls are exposed to challenges that affect their SRHR. Some girls rely on schools to access sanitary pads. During our mentorship session at Kibra, we sensitized them on SRHR &distributed pads for use during the holiday period

As part of preparedness for the predicted El Nino rains, we are sensitizing residents of Lengusaka sub-location on the importance of using pit latrines to improve the hygiene and sanitation conditions. We're partnering with Public Health department to promote #DignifiedSanitation

Samburu community has one of the highest prevalence of FGM at 76%. Despite elders Kisima declaration to abandon the practice, deep in the villages, FGM remains prevalent. We are sustaining conversations with elders to champion for elimination of FGM & child marriage. #MenEndFGM

Citing Hadith to justify cutting young girls goes against the Qur'an. Many scholars have rejected these narrations as weak. Further , the principle “do not harm yourself or others” directly opposes FGM. Men should champion for elimination of FGM, not supporting it. #MenEndFGM

When girls get empowered, communities prosper. Faced with SRHR, SGBV & other challenges, girls in informal settlements are gaining knowledge and expertise to navigate these challenges through our mentorship program. Together with MAIDA, we're building girl's agency in Kibra, Nrb.
