Hmmm not entirely sure but I'm beginning to suspect that @jonfavs justtt might have been lying here.
Had a really great conversation with @katz_morris about what he saw this cycle helping with races in TX, GA, OH, AK, MS, and SC
Come for the smart takes, stay for the lessons learned from our respective mishaps...

The weird thing about Rubio is he escapes ANY accountability in the press for the entire world basically being on fire right now even though he's the first SOS/NSA since Kissinger. Just does absolutely nothing in either job but gets kid glove treatment in the press.
Scoop, w @humeyra_pamuk @JonathanLanday:
Rubio told a big gathering of State Dept politicals last week that they need to avoid conflict of interests, stop freelancing and tighten up their act
Comes as many, including Guilfoyle, have been forced out

It's wild how true this is. Like the media people always claim to speak for The People. "We just needed to write about Joe Biden's age 8000 times b/c The People all demanded it." And yet, they don't even slightly have that smoke for Trump (and the GOP) when it is clear that The People very, very much do.

Comedian Stavros Halkias says he used to be a UFC fan but it's become "impossible" for him to enjoy fights now, because it's become a "MAGA suck off"
"If you're still sucking Trump's c**k, you're a moron. And I believe Dana White has been throating him pretty well recently."

Is Al making life better? NO. Is it making things cheaper? Quite the opposite. Is it improving the internet? It's drowning it in slop. Is it giving us more time to be creative? It's stealing that too.
Surely it's making us smarter, though? Ohhhh, you won't believe this...

"But can't AI just be used to complete unimportant backgrounds or clean up animation?" No. Those are entry level positions that turn into long careers. Bg painters become art directors. Clean up artists become animation leads. Stop trying to cheat.

Good reminder that the boat bombings deserve their own hearings & investigations
The right did a total auto-goal by mistaking the cruel nastiness of online with real world America.
Americans' self-narrative is that they're a kind, moral people. I wouldn't have called Texas and S. Carolina, but I figured there'd be a rout in 2026 when I watched a boomer aged Republican yell "This isn't America!" as ICE violently carted off his gardeners. Note: not, "Don't take them before they finish my lawn!" but "This isn't America."
Watch Vance and Rubio suddenly discover that their Catholic faith means washing the feet of refugees. But it won't work. You can't un-bomb the boats in the Caribbean or Minab or make people unsee ICE thugs beating up women

Seeing Gwynne Shotwell dive headfirst into the partisan fray with this announcement marks a troubling changing of the guard for SpaceX.
For nearly two decades, the balance of power in Hawthorne functioned thanks to a very precise division of roles: Elon Musk was the vociferous prophet, the social media agitator, and the media lightning rod, while Shotwell was the institutional anchor. She was the adult in the room, the pragmatic engineer respected by the Pentagon, NASA, Congress, and bipartisan budget appropriations committees. When Musk insulted an FAA regulator or posted political outbursts on X, Shotwell would sit down behind closed doors with admirals, Democratic senators, and agency directors to assure them that the rockets would launch on time and that federal contracts were secure.
For Shotwell to squander that capital of institutional neutrality by publicizing the donation of two million SpaceX shares to the investment accounts of Donald Trump’s program seems like a textbook strategic mistake for a defense contractor:
Robert and I are thrilled that our gift of over 2 million shares of SpaceX stock will be distributed to children’s Trump accounts in December!
Our initial gift (shares transferring to escrow as we speak) will go to 11 to 17-year-olds who live in zip codes with median family income (MFI) of $57,000 or less, and to those who live in zip codes with too few residents for an MFI to be reported in the census. These families should receive a notice by Monday.
In a few weeks, an additional gift will be finalized for eligible 11 to 17-year-old children in military families serving overseas, children in foster care, and more children whose MFI is $90,000 or less living in counties near our home in the great state of Texas.
Thank you to the incredible team @SpaceX, @Treasury, @IRS, @DellFdn, @GreaterHorizons, @InvestAmerica24, and the legal firms of Morgan Lewis and Gibson Dunn for working over the past few months to make this happen.
We are deeply grateful for the groundbreaking work that Brad Gerstner @altcap and @MichaelDell have done for the long-term financial security for millions of kids.
God Bless America!

This is due to Elon Musk reducing Starlink’s maximum speed for over a week. Nevertheless, the number of strikes on Russian vehicles has remained relatively constant this month.

Two framing failures here:
Republicans deliberately let Obamacare subsidies lapse knowing this outcome would happen, but that reality makes the GOP look very bad so it’s omitted from the headline. The increases are just happening, without context of the deliberate policy drivers.
The increases will be felt hardest among middle class Americans, but the impact is framed first in political terms as a “blow to Obamacare,” emphasizing politics over policy impact to the American people.
The substance of the reporting by @ReedAbelson @sangerkatz is fair and clear, but editorial chose a headline that could very easily mislead the reader into thinking the program is just unworkable when deliberate Republican policy is weakening it.
It’s not just the @nytimes this is very common everywhere
"Republicans fuck up people's healthcare" is the reality, but the @nytimes wants you to think it's a failure of "Obamacare"
