Prison conditions in Tehran’s Great Prison are rapidly deteriorating.
Reports say nearly 30 prisoners are packed into 10sq. meter cells, food rations have been cut in half, and many are sick and severely weakened.
Amid war and escalating tensions, the lives of political prisoners are at serious risk.
They must be protected. The Islamic Republic is responsible for their safety.

In the shadow of war, the danger for political prisoners does not disappear. It grows.
Prisons in #Iran are full of protestors - from Nobel Peace Prize laureates, to tens of thousands whose names we may never know.
The world needs to pay attention to their fate.

Missiles are in the sky.
But people in Iran cannot check the news or warn their families.
The internet is shut down.

My family in Iran can’t call or text me, or even see news of bombings from across the country, but CNN’s reporter is able to broadcast live from Tehran and let everyone know tomorrow is a weekday.
⚠️ Update: A full week has now passed since #Iran fell into digital darkness under a regime-imposed national internet blackout.
The measure remains in place at hour 168, leaving the public isolated without vital updates and alerts while officials and state media retain access.

“Water has been cut off, there is no food ration, and the health situation is catastrophic. Our child Hamoon is in danger in Tehran’s Greater Prison.
We are the same voices of Evin Prison, the same suffocated cries of ‘Fashafouyeh.’ “
This message comes from the family of a prisoner whose loved one is detained in Greater Tehran Prison. The prison had already suffered damage in its administrative sections after previous air attacks.
On March 1, the administrative section of the prison was targeted in an airstrike and severely damaged. Prisoners behind the bars of this prison, which even under normal conditions is considered one of the harshest facilities for inmates, are now experiencing intense fear and terror.
Another user also wrote on the platform X:
“The situation in Greater Tehran is extremely dire. There is not enough water, food is limited to one meal a day, internal prison stores are completely closed and not selling anything. The health situation is extremely bad.”
Journalist Farzad Seifi-Karan wrote on Monday about the explosion in the prison:
“Prisoners in Greater Tehran Prison heard about five loud explosions. Windows in the prison shattered and several walls were damaged. All prisoners ran outside and prison guards violently suppressed them. It appears the prison’s administrative building was attacked, and it is still unclear how many people have been injured or killed.”
Following the explosion on March 1, the prison’s food warehouse was destroyed after being hit by a missile, and a large number of prisoners, including those detained during the recent political crackdown, are now facing a severe shortage of food. Sick prisoners and those who urgently need medication also have no access to medical treatment. The overall condition of the prison has been described as a crisis, and concerns about the lives and health of prisoners have increased significantly.
At the same time, reports of severe repression of prisoners after the attack have raised further alarm. Under these crisis conditions, the risk of violence, isolation from the outside world, and retaliatory punishments is increasing.
Protecting the lives and health of prisoners, even during times of military conflict, remains the responsibility of the Islamic Republic’s judiciary and prison organization, which are directly responsible for maintaining security, preventing violence, and respecting the human dignity of detainees.

As an Iranian, I know how the regime manipulates propaganda even with the blood of our own people. I also understand how difficult it is for outsiders to separate truth from propaganda right now. So instead of choosing narratives, speak about the basics: human rights, internet blackout, protection of civilians, and prisoners’ rights.

⚠️ Iran’s internet shutdown has now exceeded 62 hours.
In the middle of a war, people are cut off from lifesaving information and from their families.
This is not “security.” This is information control.

Political prisoners in Iran are in danger.
They should be freed.
A video has circulated showing anti-riot and security forces of the Islamic Republic deployed around Evin Prison in Tehran. At the same time, the Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners has reported a breakdown in the prison’s administrative order, stating that some staff members have left the facility and food distribution has been halted.
According to the committee, the suspension of family contact and the closure of the prison store have placed the lives of thousands of prisoners at serious risk.
The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) has expressed grave concern over the situation, holding judicial authorities and the Prisons Organization responsible for the safety and well-being of detainees. It has called for the immediate provision of food, medical services, and restoration of communication between prisoners and their families.

The end of the Ayatollah must signal the end of the age of dictators in Iran. After 47 years, it must be time for freedom.
For all those murdered, executed and forcibly disappeared;
For all those children made to grow up in fear of the regime's shackles;
For all those mothers forced to comb through bloody basements piled high with the bodies of innocents as they searched for loved ones;
For the generations of Iranians who had to flee their homes and live in exile;
For every political prisoner tortured, executed or unjustly imprisoned;
For women, life, liberty. For Jina Mahsa Amini. For every voice forever silenced;
For every son summarily hanged from a crane in a public square;
For every innocent European held hostage in horrific conditions by the terrorists in the IRGC;
For all the victims of the proxies of terror that the regime trained, financed, supplied and supported as they murdered thousands across the Middle East and the world over the last two generations;
For all those for whom the struggle for freedom is not political or a cause célèbre but existential;
For all those who want the people of Iran to bask in light rather than remain shrouded in darkness;
Now, Iran must be free.
