HMS Liverpool and HMS Fury attempting to get underway with HMS Audacious in tow.
While tow lines were able to be secured to HMS Audacious, the lines kept snapping as the slowly flooding and listing battleship kept trying to swing into the wind as she was towed.
The ocean liner RMS Olympic, which had arrived on the scene in response to the distress call, offered to tow the dreadnought figuring that her greater size might better stabilize and pull the increasing dead weight of the sinking ship. The attempt was made but the result was the same.

This is PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP. I noticed that PCM Christ is back to writing and has just released his newest piece, “A Eulogy for Heaven”. I need your help in making this a huge and spectacular release, and it all starts with you reading it and spreading the word. Thank you.
I'm not a strict economic determinist, but it's hard to envision another outcome when you pick a fight with an opponent that has 17x your national income and 11x your industrial output.
When viewed in these terms, the historical Japanese performance is really quite remarkable.
I’m Japanese.
Question for Americans 🇺🇸
If nuclear weapons had NEVER existed during WWII…
Would Japan have stood a chance against America? 🇯🇵⚔️🇺🇸
⚔️ It would’ve been a close fight.
🇺🇸 America would’ve still dominated.
⏳ Japan could’ve held out much longer.
🤔 The outcome might’ve been different.
Was America’s military superiority already overwhelming without the atomic bombs?
I want your honest opinion.

Sailors aboard the battleship USS Arkansas (BB-33) wave from the crow’s nest as the battleship approached the Brooklyn Bridge on 16 January 1915.
Arkansas had a hectic schedule at the time. In October of 1914 she took part in fleet maneuvers off Virginia. That same month, she steamed north to the Brooklyn Navy Yard for maintenance. This repair work was interrupted as Arkansas then departed to undergo another round of exercises off Virginia. In December of 1914, she then returned to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to resume repairs before departing once again on 16 January 1915 when this photo was taken. Her destination was Virginia for, yet again, more exercises.

Places where more blacks left the American South during the Great Migration automated agriculture faster. This was good, but landowners still didn't like it, preferring the cheap labor they knew to the tractors they didn't. Parallels with immigration today.

Firepower Friday!
Crewmembers gathered on the aft deck of the battleship USS Arkansas (BB-33) watch as the big guns fire during gunnery exercises.
A Wyoming class battleship, Arkansas was armed with twelve 12" (305mm) guns in six twin turrets. Two turrets were arranged in a superfiring pair forward of the superstructure. The remaining four turrets were divided between two additional superfiring pairs aft of the superstructure. The photo shows these turrets, with turret No.3 closest to the camera.

Wow, the guy from London isn't listening to you? He's prioritizing the Indian tribes over your own people? Protests are suppressed? Taxes are too high? Your appeals to the king go unheard? That royal proclamation gives all the best land to the natives?
🇨🇦 Canada wasn’t supposed to feel like this.
Work hard. Pay your taxes.
Follow the rules.
In return, you expected a home, healthcare, safe streets, and a future for your children.
Today, too many Canadians work just to stay afloat.
Groceries squeeze the budget.
Homeownership slips further away.
Young families put their lives on hold.
Meanwhile, Ottawa delivers another announcement.
But you can’t live in a promise or feed a family with a press conference.
Canadians are still doing their part.
They deserve leaders who do theirs.
A country this rich should offer its people more than the struggle to get by.
Canadians deserve a better deal.
