Yes there are more Pyramids in Sudan than Egypt. 👇
The Nile is not a border. This is the simplest version of the argument and also the one that should require the least explanation. The Nile flows from the interior of Africa northward to the Mediterranean. The civilizations along its length were in constant contact, trading, fighting, exchanging people and ideas and religious concepts and agricultural techniques across what was not a separation but a connection. The civilization of ancient Egypt did not emerge in isolation. It emerged in relationship with the Nubian civilizations to its south, some of whose cultures predated the unification of Egypt, which contributed to and drew from Egyptian culture across millennia. The kings of Kush would eventually rule Egypt as its 25th Dynasty. And across the centuries that followed, Kushite civilization would leave behind something that still surprises people today. More pyramids. In what is now Sudan. Built by the civilization that the Western imagination has most completely erased. There are more ancient pyramids in Sudan than in Egypt. Most people reading that sentence right now are encountering it for the first time. That is not because the information is obscure. It is because the information does not fit a story that someone needed to be true. And the information that does not fit the story does not make it into the classroom.

Racing Boyo is right. The Cheltenham Festival (& Grand National too) has never been less competitive when it comes to winning the big races! In 1989, the year of Desert Orchid’s Gold Cup, no trainer saddled more than 2 winners at the Festival.
Stacey “More trainers can win the big races now at the Festival, there has been a bit of a switch.” (His words in the clip) Mullins at the 2026 Festival won 8 races of which 7 were Gr.1s! Won the Gold C, Champion H and C and also pulled F2F out of Ryanair due to ground!

The race run ín memory of my dear Dad, and to mark what would have been his centenary next month, at Stratford races on Saturday. It was a thrilling chase with an exciting finish which he would have loved watching . racingtv.com/watch/replays/2…

Great clip this of Sir Mark and George Duffield in their glory days. Makes me sad though thinking ‘where did all the time go?’

One of the saddest things you’ll ever see in horse-racing happened today in France. Losange Bleu was a tremendous horse- in 27 starts (all at Auteuil) he won 16 times and was only out of the first three once and the first two twice. Dual French Champion Hurdler, with a brave front-running take-no-prisoners style, he seemingly collapsed and died in the Prix Carmarthen at Auteuil today as they turned for home having led all the way.
Kingland continues his winning sequence with victory in the Prix Carmarthen The race was sadly marred by an injury to French Champion Hurdle winner Losange Bleu. Our thoughts go out to his connections.

This is a great shame.
Eider Chase reduced to 3m6f. Will soon be over 5f on tapeta. British racing continues to eat itself. Might as well build a car park over @NewcastleRaces. And those folks yearning for 'proper racing', the NH season? Not a patch on what it was in my youth. newcastle-racecourse.co.uk/n…

Sad end to horse that was once 4th in an Ebor and whose career stretched back to March 2019. Killed in a fall in a Clonmel claimer at the age of 12. Surely should have been retired as form since 2024 very regressive.
Rest easy Shanroe as connections were never going to call it a day. 12 year old in a claiming hurdle Clonmel 1st October. First ever fall (6th) Fatal. Second time out in almost a year. Total Earning £150k 💙

What a great run by Bay City Roller in the Arc. Prix Foy form worked out a treat. Alas, I didn’t back him though over concerns about the ground/draw but Oisin Murphy was superb. But what a winner. Daryz first colt to win back-to-back Arcs since Alleged in 1978. 48 years. #Arc2026

Air Force One. What a season he has had. Wins the big 5f handicap at the Ebor meeting, the Portland at Doncaster &then this afternoon the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot. Amazingly he went off at 17-2! He’s been a real credit to his octogenarian trainer Geoff Oldroyd & connections.
