Labour are going to offer a referendum on re-joining the EU at the next General Election to mop up Lid Dem votes. Calling it now.
Moving pension access (your money) from 55 to 57 is wrong.
The absolute joke of private pensions in the UK.
You work hard, you sacrifice your salary, and you choose to lock your OWN earned money away into a private account.
Then the government decides to arbitrarily move the goalposts from age 55 to 57 just because they can.
How is it a private asset if the state dictates when you can touch it? It’s complete control disguised as a tax wrapper. Disgraceful.
The government gives tax relief on the way in, it claims ownership over the rules on the way out.
Many view this as a form of state control over private wealth, effectively trapping hard earned money behind a shifting age barrier.
By maintaining high tax penalties like the 55% unauthorised payment charge and freezing various allowances over time, successive Conservative and Labour governments use fiscal drag to pull more money back into the Treasury, which many argue is used to cover government overspending rather than improving public services.

The answer in one word, “taxation”.

Replying to @JDVance
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
These are all the same thing. The cost of living is high because Israel convinced Trump to start a war with Iran, instead of putting America first.

I suspect that the 50 investors who lost £5million in a betting syndicate run by Rory Campbell ( son of Socialist gobshite Alastair Campbell) will be none to pleased to learn has has started a new venture.
After all Campbell,38, is still on bail having been arrested back in September last year on suspicion of fraud by false representation relating to the syndicate.
Campbell owns 60% of the new business.
He gives his address as near Taunton, Somerset. There are two other directors owning 20% each.
One is Aaron Edgeworth who is said to have broken the bad news to the investors that their money ( some had put in between £25,000 to £500,000) was unlikely to paid.
Campbell’s people ( surprised he could afford comms) described these accounts as “ incomplete and inaccurate”.
Not positive what the business will do but it’s called 6th Man Data Intelligence which may give a clue.
Campbell hasn’t said a word since the scandal broke.
Perhaps the next time his father is on a podcast or Question Time he might lift the lid on the murky goings on.
And explain what his boy is doing now living in the rural hamlet of Wrantsge - 7 miles from Taunton- whereas his previous hangout was East London.
All very odd.
Brilliant
They can't do it, can they? Every wknd they send out an Us Labours MP to get absolutely eviscerated by journalists which inevitably means I've got to dig around for a suitable wig. Today it was Emma um ur um ur Reynolds getting her arse handed to her #parody

This may be the most damning statement ever uttered by a Labour minister. It's so revealing of the attitude of a government that thinks that employers are a class that don't work for their profits but somehow exploit others for them - rather than understanding the nature of small and medium-sized businesses and how bloody hard most employers work to create wealth and employment.

It’s precisely this ad hominem silliness that debases real debate in this country @McardleTrevor .
