The U.K. public don’t want relations with you. We voted in a referendum, 2 EU elections and 2 general elections to part ways. We give, you take. Respect our democracy and freedoms. 🇬🇧🏴👊🏾
With Trump, Xi, Putin & N. Korea in Ukraine, Europe is the only geopolitical choice for the UK. Lots to do to improve 🇪🇺 - 🇬🇧 relations in this new world.
The irony...all of this will be accelerated by the actions of Trump, Mr Farage's Darth Vader.

The Burnham Wave?
750,000 people from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Iraq and Eritrea have been granted EU citizenship since 2020.
If Andy Burnham restores free movement as part of a new deal with the EU, he could open the door for them to move legally to Britain and access benefits, housing and healthcare.
Britain cannot afford another mass migration wave.

Labour has fallen for the two dumbest Remoaner myths. Soaring immigration and a decrepit economy have nothing to do with Brexit. They have everything to do with weak politicians who are terrified of UK sovereignty, says Patrick West

💯
Labour has embraced the two most sinister myths of the anti-Brexit lobby. Leaving the EU is not the reason immigration has soared and the economy has tanked. We have done this to ourselves because we refuse to act like a sovereign nation, says Patrick West

If this is true, then the UK would lose an industry worth £28 billion, to slightly lower the import costs of UK supermarkets, including the privately owned German ones that operate in the UK.
🤔
The UK's entire food and animal exports to the EU were only worth £12 billion in 2025. Why are we throwing good money after bad?
🙄
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) bloc is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.2% over a 5-year period (2020–2025) and 2.1% over a 10-year period (2015–2025), outpacing the European Union's growth rates.
Burnham’s dire EU Reset Deal looks like it could have dire consequences for the UK’s trade relations with other countries
The UK aligning with the EU on SPS & emissions appears to be incompatible with our membership of the CPTPP, which requires us to have regulatory autonomy
Is this part of a wider plan to rip up the UK’s trade relationships outside the EU or did Labour not realise the 2nd order consequences of the deal?
It could be either quite frankly

Is this a joke?
The EU wants the UK to put tariffs on Chinese EVs and Steel in the Reset agreement using WTO GATT rules, but it also wants the UK to dynamically align with its's SPS rules which are against the WTO's CODEX rules.
Talk about cherry-picking!

And not a single vote for any of it.

Are you seeing how it works now, kids? 🤔

The EU Reset "reduce GDP by £73 billion"
I have a copy.
It is a complete betrayal - and it's already agreed! (Only 2 dates need filling in and they need to decide if it is signed or concluded).
20th November is pure theatre - where Labour sell out our country.
Shanker Singham and Douglas McWilliams have been working to try to establish the cost to the UK of EU reset. We estimate that long run it will reduce GDP by £73 billion. Just after a budget including stealth taxes and a rise in the minimum wage reducing GDP by £33 billion in total. For details see:

Why should the bulk of the UK - the 87.5% that doesn’t trade with the EU - only 12.5% of our economy does - have to sign up to the EU’s OTT rules, Bad move!
Even small local bakeries that never trade with the EU will have to follow EU rules on ingredients, packaging, and nutritional information. Industry compliance costs are estimated at £2 to £3 billion. They will also face additional compliance costs every time the EU changes its rules.
UK taxpayers will also have to pay the EU for its policy work to create and enforce these rules on UK firms. This could be up to £3 billion a year, every year.

It would appear everyone involved with Burnham’s pointless EU Reset Deal rejects maths as a concept
It’s so overwhelmingly bad for the UK that it beggars belief that no one questioned it while it was being drawn up

They pay international fees because they are international students. They aren't British. That's a perfectly reasonable distinction to make.
You want British taxpayers to pay to subsidise foreign students to pay less than what their degrees cost. If that's what you want, I think you should at least be honest about what's happening.
A young European who wants to take a full degree here now pays international fees, often three or four times what a British student pays. Unsurprisingly, many have stopped coming.
I support the Government's willingness to offer EU students discounted fees at the summit on 20 November, on two conditions: the cost must be met by the Treasury, not by our universities and colleges, and British students should be treated fairly in return.
European students who study here go home as lifelong friends of Britain. We should want them back.
