For those of us designing curricula to foreground digital & AI literacy, I find Kara Kennedy's framework really productive for talking to students (and others) about the what, why, and how of AI literacy. #digitalliteracy #AIliteracy #teaching

I was just looking at statistics for the number of degrees conferred by field over time. From 2006-2017, the number of bachelor's degrees awarded in English in the United States decreased by 25%. The number of doctoral degrees awarded increased by 7.4%.

Soliciting help from the hive! In an upcoming undergrad course, my students and I will analyze issues preoccupying higher ed and think about the genre of the op-Ed. What education related opinion pieces have you found thought provoking?

So much yes. And I would add: even if you don't expect publishing but do expect self-reflective, research-based excellence in teaching (which benefits everyone throughout the entire university ecosystem).
If you expect teaching faculty to publish scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) articles you need to allow them time to read articles, collect the data, analyze it, write, and follow up. Educational research is research. It takes time and resources.

Let go of the fantasy that you must use every minute of a strictly planned class schedule to introduce, explain, clarify, and cover. Let the homework you’ve assigned do some of the introducing, explaining, clarifying, and covering for you. chroni.cl/2uZprbg

Like a gas, class prep takes as much time and space as you give it. Schedule it out. We can always find better images for our slideshows later.

One thing that has struck me about technology at #digped is the courage to say no to using technology, and to be able to provide the reasons why. Critical pedagogy uses technology as an enabler not a driver
