First displayed several years ago, the "Khorramshahr-X" appears to retain the Khorramshahr-1’s booster configuration but features a smaller RV. Given the Kh-1’s stated range of 2,000 km and its 2,000 kg warhead, the Kh-X’s range exceeds 2,000 km.
Since 2017, Iran has unveiled multiple variants of the Khorramshahr ballistic missile family. We’ve created an infographic covering the family’s variants, their configurations, and key features. The infographic is available for download in 4K.

Nearly two years after construction began, recent satellite imagery suggests the underground facility at the Shahroud Missile Complex may be nearing completion. Paving is visible near its entrances, while further expansion or additional excavation may also be underway.

The biggest finding is a severely damaged Royal Saudi Air Force RE-3A spy plane, with its horizontal stabilizer missing and visible fuel leakage. It was likely hit in the same March 2026 Iranian strikes that destroyed a USAF E-3G and KC-135R tanker.

OSINT analysts identify the aircraft as an RSAF KE-3A tanker, not RE-3A, as it lacks the spy plane's distinctive hog nose and cheek fairings. x.com/vcdgf555/statu… x.com/FaytuksNetwork…

Notably, the shafts appear to have been excavated only in recent years, despite the site being over two decades old. This section therefore appears to serve both underground launch and missile storage functions. The IDF also reported striking the base during the 12-day war.

A damaged object, possibly a ballistic missile launcher, is also visible in the base. Its identification is based on its shape and dimensions.
Satellite imagery dated May 1, 2026, shows damage around the underground entrances of a missile base north of Shiraz that were targeted and subsequently reopened during the recent war. The base has also expanded significantly since the 12-day war.

A rarely seen video of a Sejjil missile launch during Operation True Promise 4. Recorded by IRGC Aerospace Force personnel, the footage captures the missile from launch through its boost phase, ending with the formation of its distinctive luminous plume in the evening sky.
