FLORIDA KRATOM UPDATE! HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY IS CONSIDERING NEW RESTRICTIONS — BUT NATURAL LEAF IS EXEMPT
Today, October 21, 2026, Hillsborough County commissioners are scheduled to consider a proposed ordinance targeting concentrated 7-OH and related synthetic derivatives. Here's what the proposal includes:
✅ Natural botanical kratom: Traditional leaf, powder, and other non-enhanced products would remain exempt.
⚠️ Concentrated 7-OH: Restrictions would apply to products exceeding 1 mg/g in solids, 1 mg/mL in liquids, or failing a 100:1 mitragynine-to-7-OH ratio.
⚠️ Retailers: Lawful kratom retailers would be required to display warning signage.
📅 NEXT POSSIBLE HEARING: November 10, 2026, at 10 AM, if commissioners advance the proposal today.
Florida's existing emergency scheduling rule is also set to expire June 30, 2027, unless made permanent.
NOW HERE'S WHAT I WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND.
I'm not in favor of banning products. I'm in favor of responsible regulation, accurate labeling, independent testing, age restrictions, and holding manufacturers accountable.
But I also believe it's extremely important that lawmakers recognize the difference between traditional botanical kratom and highly concentrated or chemically altered products.
STOP TREATING EVERYTHING LABELED "KRATOM" AS IF IT'S THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT! 🙄
This proposal has NOT been adopted, and today's meeting is another step in the process.

On October 19, 2026, the Louisiana Department of Health issued another emergency scheduling rule, this time adding THREE kratom-related compounds to Schedule I.
BUT HERE'S WHAT MAKES THIS INTERESTING… Louisiana already banned botanical kratom statewide, effective August 1, 2025.
YES. THE ENTIRE PLANT WAS ALREADY BANNED!
And now, more than a year later, the state is taking additional emergency action against kratom-related compounds?
SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT.🤔
You banned natural botanical kratom.
You made legal access unavailable.
And now you're telling the public additional emergency scheduling is necessary?
I THOUGHT BANNING KRATOM WAS SUPPOSED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?!🙄
Here's what I'd really like Louisiana officials to answer:
❓ If prohibition was the solution, why are additional emergency controls necessary?
❓ What evidence shows the original botanical ban improved public safety?
❓ Are consumers now encountering products that are more chemically concentrated or altered?
❓ And where is the evidence that banning responsible adult access to kratom was more effective than regulating products, requiring testing, and enforcing safety standards?
Now, to be clear, this latest emergency action involves additional compounds. It is NOT a new ban because LOUISIANA ALREADY DID THAT IN 2025!
The need for another scheduling action doesn't automatically prove the original ban failed, but it certainly raises questions about whether prohibition alone is an effective public health strategy.
I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it.
YOU CANNOT SIMPLY BAN YOUR WAY OUT OF EVERY PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERN!

Another New Hampshire town is considering restrictions on kratom, and there's something in this proposal that natural-leaf consumers and small businesses need to understand!
On October 8, the Merrimack Town Council voted 6–0 to advance proposed Chapter 195.

⚠️ **STATUS: PROPOSED — NOT ENACTED!**
Here's where things get interesting. 👀
The proposal would allow unadulterated whole and ground kratom leaf for adults 21 and older.
**BUT WHAT ABOUT NATURAL KRATOM CAPSULES?**
The proposed language also restricts capsules, tablets, drinks, extracts, enhanced products, and synthetic derivatives.
That means ordinary botanical kratom capsules could potentially be restricted, even when they contain the EXACT SAME natural leaf that's permitted in powder form!
**MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE!** 🙄
I've been a natural kratom consumer for over a decade, and my family operated our small business in Newport, New Hampshire, for years.
I support responsible regulation, proper testing, accurate labeling, age restrictions, and consumer education.
**But I do NOT support banning products.**
If public safety is the goal, let's have conversations about reasonable standards, transparency, and accountability instead of taking products away from responsible adults.
And let's remember that many people choose capsules simply because they're convenient and easier to consume.

Attend the hearing, ask questions, share your experiences, and make sure the Town Council understands how these restrictions could affect consumers and small businesses.

🚨 DEA KRATOM UPDATE EVERYONE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGED! 👀
On October 14, 2026, the DEA officially published two updated federal scheduling notices in the Federal Register.
And before anyone starts screaming that ALL kratom is being federally banned, THAT IS NOT WHAT THESE NOTICES SAY.
Here's what's happening. 👇
🔴 STATUS: PROPOSED — NOT YET EFFECTIVE
The DEA is proposing Schedule I controls for products containing 7-OH and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (MGPI) above certain thresholds:
➡️ More than 1 mg per gram in solid products.
➡️ More than 1 mg per milliliter in liquids.
➡️ Or a mitragynine-to-7-OH/MGPI ratio below 100:1.
NOW HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART FOR KRATOM CONSUMERS!
That does NOT mean every product labeled "natural" is automatically exempt. The actual alkaloid levels matter.
📅 November 13, 2026, is the earliest possible date for a new scheduling order. It is NOT a confirmed effective date.
MGPI, MGM-15, and MGM-16 remain subject to existing federal scheduling controls.
I've spent over a decade in this industry, and I'm going to keep saying this:
WE NEED ACCURATE INFORMATION, NOT FEAR-BASED HEADLINES!
Consumers deserve transparency, proper testing, accurate labeling, and facts about what these federal actions actually mean.

Wait a minute... researchers actually studied long-term kratom consumers and looked at their BLOODWORK?! 👀
And the findings deserve some attention!
A 2026 study published in Scientific Reports examined 581 adults in Southern Thailand, including:
🌿 285 traditional kratom consumers
🌿 296 non-consumers
Researchers compared blood counts, liver function, kidney markers, and other health measurements.
HERE'S WHAT THEY FOUND:
✅ No clinically significant differences in liver function markers between the groups after accounting for other factors.
✅ No clinically significant differences in blood counts.
✅ Researchers found differences in kidney function markers, which they suggested were likely related to differences in body composition.
But here's what I find interesting. We constantly hear claims about how dangerous kratom is, but how often do we hear about research examining people who have consumed traditional kratom for YEARS?
I've personally consumed natural kratom for over a decade. And THIS is why I believe science matters so much.
Not fear. Not assumptions. Not sensational headlines.
Actual research involving actual people.
