二〇〇五年，我在上海工作。秋天時，一位暫時回國的京都同事從日本帶來了烤栗子點心。距今已近二十年，店名早已記不得了。這次在京都，享受短暫夏假，漫步街頭時，偶然瞥見這家店的招牌，記憶湧現。推開木製拉門，踏入店內，玻璃櫃中擺放著當年的栗子點心。
那一年，中國各地掀起反日示威，其中以上海規模最大，日中關係驟然冷卻。友好交流活動一律中止，應對的事務卻接踵而至，難得片刻安寧。那時同事們互相鼓勵，大家都已疲憊不堪。同事帶回的栗子點心，甜美溫潤，悄然撫慰了疲憊的心靈。二十年後的今天，偶然重逢這款栗子點心，滋味依舊。

I was finally able to get a copy of @IsabellaMWeber‘s book and just finished reading it. I of course expected it to be a very interesting book, but it is even better and more important than I expected.
As a result, landed peasants began pivoting towards land speculation for livelihood. In the process, they often lose out to experienced and resourceful actors in the property market. Some, therefore, targeted inexperienced petty foreign investor to deal away their land.
