The best weeks combine learning, mentorship, and a few baked treats. 🍪
Our GI fellows had a great week on consults with medical students and celebrated the end of the week with goodies from Setto Bakery.

Some fellowships measure success in procedures and patient visits.
Today we're measuring it in coffee cups. ☕📈
Four cups tall and still standing, much like our fellows after a busy day on service. The work can be demanding, but great teammates, good humor, and a little caffeine go a long way.
Here's to supporting each other through the busiest days and finding reasons to smile along the way. 💙☕🏥

Congrats to Dr. Ankit Chhoda and colleagues on their publication in Gastroenterology!
Their study followed patients with pancreatic cysts and found that the risk of cancer increased as the number of concerning cyst features increased. The findings may help physicians better identify who needs closer monitoring or treatment while avoiding unnecessary procedures. 🔬👏

For some people with Crohn’s disease, abdominal pain persists even when inflammation is under control. Researchers are exploring whether targeting the gut-brain axis could help address lingering pain. By using a low-dose tricyclic antidepressant, the AIMS study will evaluate whether this approach can safely and effectively reduce pain in people with Crohn’s disease.
We spoke with AIMS Study researchers Shrinivas Bishu, Ben Cohen, Jeff Dueker, and Jessica Langer, Helmsley Program Officer, to answer questions about persistent pain in Crohn’s disease, the science behind the study, and what it could mean for people with Crohn’s disease.
