New literacy and numeracy screening.
Every student deserves the right start. Starting January 2025, literacy and numeracy screening will expand to kindergarten, with other changes coming to grades 1-5.

Started off class today with a linear functions #menumath task (from @nomad_penguin). First asked students to come up with an equation for each constraint, then satisfy all contraints with the fewest equations possible. #ITeachMath natbanting.com/menu-math/

The risks taken while modelling foreign tasks (& thinking out loud) creates a space for struggle to be natural and ok.
Often, students only see carefully crafted & perfectly executed problems. Solving a new problem is messy and that can be ok.
