Oh man. Quite possibly the worst moment in my sports fan life. Just ripped my heart out. Freaking Bazardo.
This is a big part of coaching, articulated well here by Shanahan. The crossover to baseball is pretty obvious.
Kyle Shanahan says a 51% analytics recommendation won’t convince him to go for it because he gets one shot, not an hour at a blackjack table
“I don’t want to hear about it if it’s 51% of the time we should go for it.”
“As I always say, I’m not sitting here playing Blackjack for an hour with no one else at the table, and eventually I’ll get 51% of it. Like, I have this one try, and I have a feel for it. I’ve been doing it too long.”
“But what I want to know from him, when it’s not a feel, when it, no, this is 98%. We don’t even need to talk about it. So we don’t need to talk about it. Tell me when it’s that, and I’ll just do it.”
Paying a school bus driver to take teams to and from games is expensive work, and coaches who drive the bus save the district a ton of money. Instead of reducing their pay by NOT driving, doesn’t it make more sense to pay a coach every time they do? Just do an hourly rate.

Lived less than a mile from this when I moved to Bend after college. Unfathomable.
Don’t onside kick while up 57-0. Pretty simple.
Not sure I've ever seen this one before.
Typically, a 63-0 loss could warrant a high school football coach to lose his job. But what about a 63-0 win?
Well, that actually just happened to one state championship football program.

This play is a good litmus test for whether or not someone really knows baseball.
Jacob Misiorowski had Teoscar Hernández picked off, but the umpire called a balk, allowing Hernández to take second base.

Chasing this feeling with your people is an unmatched experience in basically all other realms of life. The reaction from Sabrowski and his dugout is a high you really only get in sports. That rush constantly keeps me coming back to coach for another year.
Only one batter faced
Just five pitches thrown
But Erik Sabrowski's ALDS Game 5 appearance was as big as anyone's

For HS (maybe college and above can’t speak to it):
(1) Stop getting sideways on lead
(2) Stop arresting momentum. Momentum should be ♾️ as ball crosses plate.
(3) Don’t get this far off bag to execute 1 and 2
(4) Down angle off bat is AUTO go. Stop with the “see it through”
Just came across this dumb pic from 2019. Thought I’d share. Tyler was cutting across really badly and finishing way too low. I was holding a PVC pipe at the time, so I jumped in and gave him an exaggerated feel. “Don’t hit the pipe.” There’s a better way than this, thankfully.
Scoring on this play is incredible at the Major League level. To be more or less stopped at third, then hitting the gas pedal again on the fumble at first. Really impressive dedication to winning baseball.
Couldn’t even imagine. The Sweet Home community is incredible. This just really sucks.
Sweet Home football player Mason Flores has died after suffering a head injury in a JV game last week.

I used to stop by Elmer’s on my way to school and pop a quarter in the newspaper box the morning after I had a good game. Seeing yourself recognized in print was a special feeling.
