This from Dennis is particularly brilliant. He was asked a leading question about how much conversion therapy is out there, and he turned it incredibly effectively to the post-modern "conversion therapy" that is gender medicine. There is definitely a lot of "reparative therapy" out there - and it's done by the gender clinicians who put gay teenagers on the path to chemical and/or physical castration. The framing the question suggested was that this bill is addressing a serious, existing harm, albeit perhaps the bill needs some safeguards to stop overreach. Dennis moved back onto his own framing, showing that there is a genuine, serious problem with conversion therapy, but it's not where the panel committee think it is, and this bill will make it worse.
The Conversion Practices bill “makes it a crime to say to your teenaged daughter: I want you to love your body, I want you to grow up to be a happy lesbian. I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU ARE A MAN!” 💔 @Jebadoo2

“These words are taken from a statute designed to deal with adult relationships…” “Safeguarding your child sometimes involves saying ‘no’…” Very, very powerful section of @Jebadoo2 and @HJoyceGender’s evidence towards the end of the committee hearing today:

This is gut wrenching.
David Abraham, a black Jew, boarded a bus in North London, in October 2025. He touched the payment device with his credit card as normal, but when the Stamford Hill bus driver, Paul Lindo 60, said, “I don’t like Jews,” he was startled and dropped his card in between the touch device and the plastic covering. Lindo then told him how he hated Jews and locked the passenger inside the bus for more than an hour. David videoed himself as he couldn’t believe a black man would do this to a black man. The incident was reported to police and the driver was arrested, but amazingly, the @CPSUK Crime Prosecution Service, decided NOT to pursue the case. The NGO campaign against @antisemitism then provided David with the necessary legal backing to seek justice. All of a sudden, the CPS changed their minds and decided to prosecute. Lindo was charged with racially aggravated intentional harassment, for locking Jewish passenger, David Abraham aboard a bus for around an hour and making antisemitic remarks. Lindo is due at Thames Magistrates' Court on 16th November. Credit to Campaign Against Antisemitism for standing with victims of antisemitic abuse. Shame on yhe @CPSUK for once again, failing to do their job and protect members of the public

One powerful tool abusers use is relentless harassment until you bend to their wishes. The tactic works by grinding down resistance. The endless lectures, the late night arguments, the constant pressure creates psychological exhaustion. In the end, you agree just to make it stop, even if it means abandoning your own wishes. #CoerciveControl

I don’t believe anyone can defend this bill in good faith. It is catastrophically dangerous. But the nature of our parliamentary system is that the vast majority of MPs will plod through the lobby and vote simply on the basis of whatever their Whips have told them to do, without any thought whatsoever. Individual MPs MUST be held to account for their actions in relation to this bill. It WILL go wrong. It WILL cause terrible injustices. It WILL cause irreparable damage to children. It WILL tear families apart. There is no doubt about that. And each and every terrible example must be placed directly on the shoulders of each individual MP who backs it.
“We could amend this Bill here, there and everywhere, carve out this, tweak that, but at the end of the day the government would still be passing a Bill that says there’s one area, and one area only, of medical practice where you could get prosecuted if you put a foot wrong. That won’t be a chilling effect, that’ll be a deep freeze” Magnificent from @Jebadoo2 #BinTheBill

Day 3 of Bonnie and Clyde week. These two are taking their recovery in stride and looking adorable doing it. Bonnie is rocking the absolute cutest little pink bandage on her ear, while Clyde is sporting his cone and showing off his sweet teefies. 🥹 Even though they have a long way to go, they are handling their treatments like champions. Seeing them safe, comfortable, and still smiling through it all is the best feeling.

This man is absurd and should not be allowed to teach anyone anything until he reins in his personal fantasies & shows appreciation of the fact that his job is to teach his subject & not to impose on his students his personal fantasy of being a large-breasted, lookalike Rasputin.
I’ve now been contacted by numerous people about the ‘Boob Man of Oxford’. Those who work or study at Oxford have asked for anonymity, so I can’t share identifying details. But some common themes have emerged: - Unsurprisingly, women describe feeling uncomfortable about a male lecturer wearing what appear to be oversized prosthetic breasts in their place of work or study - Some question whether there is a sexual element or whether it is a ‘power play’. These are their concerns, rather than established explanations for his behaviour - but are legitimate concerns nonetheless - They say they’re afraid to raise concerns because he is surrounded by ‘allies’, including staff, who defend his appearance as 'self-expression' One source has even wondered whether this is an elaborate stunt to embarrass the university - along the lines of Josh Seiter, who pretended to be a trans woman as an 'experiment'. Another source says this has been going on for three years - which does seem a long time to keep up the act. There is interest in covering this in the mainstream press. What would help now is more documentary evidence: complaint letters, responses or correspondence showing how concerns have been handled. My inbox is open: [email protected]. Happy to have a confidential chat about any aspect of this. All messages treated in confidence.

This is really worrying. The mandatory investigative duty under s47 of Children Act 1989 will be triggered. All these chaos and expense for what exactly? A social contagion that wasn’t on anyone’s radar less than a decade ago.
Brilliant questioning here from @NazShahBfd of Professor Ilias Trispiotis: she forces him to concede that - yes, ordinary parental conversations with their children will fall under the scope of this Bill and they will be criminalised

So, a boy has been spared prison for stabbing a girl repeatedly because he is a bright lad. Recently, some boys were spared prison for raping girls because they were not bright lads. Open season, then.

I genuinely think they should wrap up BBC Woman's Hour. It's from another time and everything since they got rid of Jenni Murray has been a betrayal of every woman in the UK.
Parliament feels grown up enough to hear the awesome Helen Joyce But she's far too scary for @BBCWomansHour which has shadow banned her

Jury in Russell Brand case told it can draw adverse inferences due to his failure to mention facts relied on in his defence while being questioned under caution, as per s.34 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. Brand has said he did not remember the incidents at the time.

Does everybody remember the Bradford grooming gang case involving a 15-year-old girl who was subjected to an Islamic marriage ceremony with her abuser, while her own social worker attended? Well, her abuser, Raja Zulqurnean, originally sentenced to 18 years on 14 May 2025, had his sentence increased to 23 years by the Court of Appeal on 5 September 2025, after it was deemed unduly lenient. My question remains: Why was the social worker who attended this so-called marriage ceremony not in the dock as well? A vulnerable child in state care, being exploited in plain sight. Where was the safeguarding? Where was the accountability?
