Rsearchers proved anyone with a $600 amazon dish can intercept half the world’s satellite internet traffic. They published a terrifying paper that exposes massive, unencrypted hole in global communications. we have always assumed intercepting satellites requires state-level intelligence gear.. But this paper proved otherwise. they built a fully automated tracking system using $600 of commercially available off-the-shelf parts and intercepted 39 GEO satellites and 411 transponders across the sky. the results? 50% of the IP links they scanned are broadcasting highly sensitive data back to earth in pure cleartext. no encryption. no security. because organizations treat these satellite bounces as "internal private networks," they don't even bother using basic IPSec or TLS. here is what they found flying through the air completely unencrypted: → telecom cellular backhaul (raw call audio, sms texts, and IMSIs) → military asset tracking & vessel locations → power grid monitoring & industrial control systems → banking ATM traffic & LDAP directories → retail inventory and aviation data satellite TV has used link-layer encryption for decades to prevent piracy.. but critical infrastructure, military comms, and banks? completely wide open for anyone with a clear view of the sky and a cheap passive dish. to pull this off, the researchers developed a custom universal traffic parser that blindly decodes the fragmented, proprietary protocol stacks of 7 different satellite vendors. once the dish was aligned.. the sky was literally raining private data. they have already disclosed this massive vulnerability to the us military, t-mobile, and major global banks. practical obscurity is officially dead. if you beam data to space without encryption, it is public data.

‼️ Researcher Erica Windisch skipped coordinated vulnerability disclosure and published 11 unpatched Tailscale flaws. In her lab, Tailscale SSH race conditions let one hacked device get root on other servers and add a rogue node.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

Russia just suffered its worst personnel-loss day of the full-scale war. Ukraine’s General Staff says Russian forces suffered a record 2,250 personnel losses in a single day on October 21, breaking the previous daily record of 2,200 set in December 2024. Three of Russia’s five heaviest personnel-loss days have now come in just the past month. That is what battlefield attrition looks like when it hits at record scale.

It's not hard to work out the playbook here: acquire a widely used model of voting machine, hack it, and then one of three possibilities: – don't disclose the vulnerability until after the voting is done, creating pressure for votes cast using that model to be discarded as insecure; – disclose it just before the vote and demand that the machines not be used, throwing the election into chaos; – use the disclosure as justification for federal forces to physically seize the voting machines, with the same result. Whichever scenario they had in mind, it's possible, maybe even likely, that this represents preparation for events never seen before in a Western democracy. I'd be interested to know what @C_C_Krebs thinks about all this...

Last month, Trump’s DHS asked its cyber division to try and a hack voting machines. BUT: -They directed them to NOT alert voting machine companies if flaws were discovered. Violating policy. -Order to only report directly to White House. That’s NOT typical at all!!
ProPublica: Trump Appointees Wanted a Voting Machine Hacked A few months into President Donald Trump’s second term, political appointees at the Department of Homeland Security made an unusual request of its agency focused on cybersecurity: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it. The appointees wanted the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to procure the machine, examine it and report back the findings so they could be given to the White House, according to two former administration officials with knowledge of the request. propublica.org/article/cisa-…

An absolutely incredible rescue story! For the first time in history, a wounded Ukrainian soldier has been evacuated from the frontline by an aerial drone. Enemy drones overhead. Mined terrain. No safe way out. Warriors of Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade modified a heavy hexacopter to rescue their comrade. When a ground evacuation was impossible, Ukrainian ingenuity made the impossible possible. Glory to Ukraine’s Defenders!

BREAKING: Elon Musk approached Trump with the plan to choke off Ukraine's use of SpaceX's Starshield, and Trump agreed, but Musk then distanced himself after fearing a loss of revenue in Europe from his companies, per four sources to The Telegraph. Musk publicly blamed the White House, saying any limits on speed or usage were decided solely by the US military and the president. "He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it. The reality is that they were both in it," a senior source said. He only moved to distance himself after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, alarmed about backlash from European customers of Tesla and Starlink. Zelensky says he will now defy Trump's order to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries and will continue. "The main rule of our operations is to respond," he says.

Tesla's new Roadster hung almost upside down 65 feet off the ground, let go, and caught itself before it landed. The only thing it used to stop the fall was air. Without the thrusters, that's a bad two seconds. From 65 feet, about six stories, a car hits the pavement doing roughly 44 mph. Nobody was inside. Elon said the car drove itself for the demo "to make sure we don't kill anyone." Watch the readout in the bottom left as it drops. It jumps to 3.1 G at 31 feet as the thrusters fire, which is about how hard you get pressed into your seat at the bottom of a big roller coaster drop. While that's happening, attitude thrusters roll the car right side up and thrusters at the corners fire straight down to set it on its wheels. The tanks hold about 250 kg of ordinary air, crammed into two carbon-wrapped pressure vessels totaling 600 liters, the same kind of tank SpaceX flies on its rockets. That works out to air roughly 340 times denser than what you're breathing, stored at several hundred atmospheres. Tesla says it leaves the nozzles faster than the speed of sound and the system puts out more than 80 kN, enough force to hold up over 8,000 kg. The white cloud it lands in comes from the air too. Gas expanding that violently gets cold enough to turn the moisture in the night air into fog on the spot. Nothing on the car is burning. And the tanks refill themselves. Elon says the Roadster can pump them back up on its own, which means the propellant for that six-story catch was the same air you're breathing right now.
JUST IN: Elon Musk unveils the Tesla Roadster by launching it off a ramp before the car flipped in midair and safely landed on the ground. The car is a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX. One of the most insane things I've ever seen.

BREAKING: The order to limit Ukraine's Starshield satellite access this week came directly from inside the White House, with leaders at the Defense Department receiving a message that the service needed to be slowed immediately, per multiple officials to Reuters. Yet, White House officials told the Ukrainians yesterday they do not have control over SpaceX, and one source said the administration is going to reach out to SpaceX to figure out what happened. Musk said Starshield is owned and controlled by the US government and that "any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS." Zelensky said the failures were deliberate. "It was not a technical problem, it was the will."
