Holy shit...this clip is unreal. Nithya Raman has absolutely NO clue about how housing works in LA. Oppenheim explains to her that landlords are losing money over the last decade and she's got ZERO idea what he's saying. This lady was chair of the Homelessness and Housing Committee for years and she's genuinely hearing this for the first time in her life. Unreal that this low IQ buffoon is about to be the Mayor. WTF are we doing.

Obama has become angrier in his post-presidency. Obamacare tripled US healthcare costs, Race to the Top did nothing to improve schools, My Brothers Keeper did nothing to improve black young men. His failed presidency is more apparent every day, and it’s driving him mad.

There’s not a single MAGA Republican in a position of power anywhere in Los Angeles, but Nithya’s supporters are so fucking stupid, they think MAGA is at fault for communist LA being such a mess. This place has been run entirely by far left radicals for decades, and every state that Angelenos are fleeing to is full of (and run by) MAGA republicans. We are approaching levels of IQ once thought impossible among sentient beings.

Remember folks, JB Pritzker is the Democrat governor who signed on to lead the Color Revolution against our nation's Constitutional order.
Now he is conspiring with faithless generals and admirals.
We are on the cusp of becoming a 1970s banana republic.

This is how the Christians of the Middle East and North Africa went from majority to minority. Today they are less than 3%.
In the 7th century, most people from Iraq to Egypt to Carthage were Christian. Our churches, languages, and monasteries shaped the region long before Islam arrived.
7th–10th centuries: After the Arab conquests, Christians kept their faith only by paying the jizya tax and accepting life as second-class subjects.
They were barred from building new churches, from bearing arms, and from testifying against Muslims, and leaving Islam was punishable by death.
Revolts were crushed: in Egypt, the Bashmurian Copts rose up in 831 and were defeated, and survivors were killed or deported. Under this mix of pressure and force, conversion spread over generations.
In much of the region, Muslims became the majority sometime around the 9th or 10th century, and later in Egypt.
11th–15th centuries: Around 1009 in Egypt and the Levant, Caliph al-Hakim ordered churches destroyed, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, and pressured Christians to convert.
In the 12th century, the Almohads in North Africa gave Christians and Jews a choice of conversion, exile, or death, and Christianity there all but disappeared.
In Egypt, mob attacks and waves of church burnings under the Mamluks in the 1300s drove more Copts to convert.
In Mesopotamia, after the Mongol ruler Ghazan converted to Islam in 1295, churches were destroyed, and Timur’s massacres a century later shattered the Church of the East, which had once stretched all the way to China.
Ottoman era (1500s–1800s): Communities survived under the millet system, organized and governed through their churches.
Researchers estimate that from 1500 to 1900, Christians held fairly steady at roughly 15 percent of the Middle East’s population.
1914–1923: The Armenian genocide and the Seyfo, the massacres of Assyrians, Chaldeans, and Syriacs, wiped out whole villages across Anatolia and northern Mesopotamia. In Iraq, the Simele massacre followed in 1933.
20th century: War, discrimination, and lack of economic opportunity pushed families to emigrate, while birth rates fell.
Across Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the Palestinian territories, the Christian share of the population fell from 10% in 1900 to 5% in 2010.
2003 to today: In Iraq, about 1.5 million Christians lived in the country before the 2003 invasion; as few as 150,000 remain.
In 2014, ISIS gave the Christians of Mosul the same choice their ancestors had faced: convert, pay the jizya, leave, or be killed.
Those who refused were driven out or killed, and for the first time in nearly 2,000 years, Mosul and the Nineveh Plain were emptied of Christians.
We were the original people of this land, and our numbers fell over fourteen centuries due to violence and intolerance.
My prayers go out to all those who were injured or lost their lives last Friday in the terrorist attack on worshippers at the Orthodox Church of Saint George in Hamoud, Jordan. I express my closeness to the community and the entire country, which is known for its peaceful coexistence and respect between different religions.

This is correct. Everyone who voted for me should remember that you actually still can impact the LA Mayor outcome. Not by voting for Bass in some cynical gambit, but by getting Steve Hilton in as governor to keep a lid on how crazy Nithya gets and intervene on her failures.

I’ve often reflected on the fact that ISIS marched through the Middle East and basically ended the possibility of generational Christianity there.
They slaughtered so many Christians and destroyed so many churches that the only way the Christians in the Middle East will ever recover their population is by converting Muslims, which, of course the Muslims make illegal, punishable by death.
Do you think of a Christian wandered into a mosque and opened fire and killed Muslims during their worship they wouldn’t mention the Christians in the headline?
I really don’t think so.
I could be wrong, I’m wrong all the time.
Whatever the case, Islam has a serious problem and Christians are paying a bit bitter, bitter price for it. Headlines like this don’t help make the problem as clear as the blood of these innocent people does.
Alas

Because it artificially shrunk the supply of cheap, reliable transportation Patrick. Small businesses took a big hit & the consequences were a massive blow to independent used car lots, small-scale mechanics, and salvage yards.
It also proved to politicians that the government could drastically alter consumer behavior by artificially constricting supply.
So we should complain about it to infinity and beyond not just until 2050.

British aristocrats suffered a 20% death rate in World War I, shedding blood on a scale and at a rate not seen since the Wars of the Roses
The British state repaid that sacrifice by confiscating their estates through ruinous death and income taxes, wiping away the upper class as a politically important force
The wages of that are Britain's dismal present
The centuries that saw it governed by a martial aristocracy saw it rise to the peak of Olympus as the mightiest, most prosperous, and most flourishing civilization
The century that has seen it ruled by "democracy" has seen it go from a glorious empire to a wretched, poor little island that is increasingly full of Pakistanis and Africans

I went to see the new Sense and Sensibility movie yesterday.
In general, I was disappointed.
They changed the story in a few key ways, the overall mood was gloomy, and the styling was awful.
Much worse, though, Mr. Palmer was played by a “non-binary” woman.
When the character came on the screen, my husband and I looked at each other in confusion.
The styling was male, but the character had a weak voice, short stature, and effeminate appearance.
I googled it mid-movie, and apparently the actress is Eliot Sumner, the daughter of singer Sting.
As is always the case with this kind of casting, it was distracting and confusing and weakened the plot.
Presumably because of the odd casting/choice, they gave Mr. Palmer a smaller role than usual.
All the humor of his character was deleted.
Fans of the 1995 version with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet might remember that the character was played by Hugh Laurie (famous as Dr. House).
Laurie was perfect – droll and hilarious.
Wokeism ruins everything it touches.

Today, I learned that Australia is a land mass that broke off of Antarctica.
As a result, it didn't have robust fauna or earthworm ecosystems, so it doesn't have millions of years of soil compaction.
That's why all of it's lifeforms are venomous. 🧵
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Australia has ~1,000 native earthworm species despite splitting from Antarctica. Venom in snakes (not "all" lifeforms) stems from elapid radiation in isolation, not soil/earthworms (australian.museum/learn/animals/… discoverwildlife.com/animal-facts/w…).
