The Royal Navy has intercepted a Russian spy ship off the coast of Scotland.
Helicopters were dispatched to track the intelligence-gathering ship, which was “closely monitoring” a Nato exercise, near the Outer Hebrides.
Moscow has intensified its activity in and around British waters this year, using warships, civilian vessels and fishing trawlers.

The True Story of Czech America Returns Home 🏠
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Radek Augustin and the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Nicholas Merrick @USEmbassyPrague today symbolically received a collection of nearly one thousand historical books and printed materials documenting the lives of Czechs and Slovaks in the United States. 📚
Among them is a rare 1916 edition of Babička (The Grandmother), the very first American edition of Božena Němcová’s famous work published in Czech. Together with other publications, it captures the Czech footprint in the United States, the stories of expatriate communities, and the true story of Czech America.
Thanks to cooperation with Czech expatriate organizations and American partners, this important part of our cultural heritage will find its way into Czech institutions. 🇨🇿

Ukrainian combat experience will carry more weight in setting NATO’s technology priorities.
Ukraine and @NATO’s innovation accelerator DIANA signed a memorandum of understanding, the first such agreement DIANA has made with a partner country.
It means extra funding for joint projects, closer work with the NATO-Ukraine JATEC center, and a faster path from idea to battlefield for Ukrainian developers.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired the Pentagon's top military planner, a Pentagon official told CBS News late Wednesday.
Army Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia is the latest in a series of generals to be ousted. The firing comes even as President Trump is weighing renewed strikes on Iran in the eight-month-long war.
The Pentagon official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel matters, said Sylvia was accused of misconduct for leaking classified information related to the Iran war and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Sylvia failed three polygraph tests about sharing classified information with the press, the official said, adding that the case has been referred to the Department of Justice.
