Today I spoke with health workers at Northern Hospital in Epping, an outer working-class suburb of Melbourne. We discussed the crisis in healthcare, the union-Labor sellout of striking doctors, and the need for an independent movement of workers.

Trump said: "An entire civilization will die tonight." We declare our solidarity with the people of Iran. The working class of the world must oppose this monstrous crime. It must be stopped.

On Saturday, I was barred from addressing a No Kings rally in Nürnberg, Germany. The organizers had said there would be an open mike. I had identified myself as WSWS editor, and was told that I would be allowed to speak. But after waiting for nearly an hour, I was surrounded by Democratic Party goons. They would not allow me to speak and condemn the illegal war against Iran, which the Democrats support.

The Assistant National Secretary of the Socialist Equality Party (UK), Tom Scripps, released a video statement Wednesday opposing the war on Iran, denouncing the complicity of Keir Starmer’s Labour government, and calling for a socialist anti-war movement.

Gripped by a mood of genocidal recklessness, the imperialist states look back on the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 80 years ago as an example of how to use mass murder to resolve political and social problems for which they see no other solution.

The eruption of the scandal over the deliberate cover-up of Trump’s connections to billionaire speculator and convicted sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein—six years after Epstein’s supposed suicide in a Manhattan prison cell—is not a passing matter. It rather resembles such scandals of the 20th century as the Stavisky Affair (1933-34) in France, and the Profumo Affair (1963) in Britain, which upended governments and brought about major shifts in the political life of each country.

The Epstein scandal is characteristic of every corrupt ruling class as it heads toward the abyss. As Marx wrote of the financial parasites on the eve of the 1848 Revolution:
"Clashing at every moment with the bourgeois laws themselves, an unbridled assertion of unhealthy and dissolute appetites manifested itself, particularly at the top of bourgeois society—lusts wherein wealth derived from gambling naturally seeks its satisfaction, where pleasure becomes debauched, where money, filth and blood commingle. The finance aristocracy, in its mode of acquisition as well as in its pleasures, is nothing but the rebirth of the lumpenproletariat on the heights of bourgeois society."

“Marxism 2025” gave clear warning of the type of pro-capitalist party the SWP is preparing to build, platforming Yanis Varoufakis, betrayer of the Greek working class, as a keynote speaker.

You're doing something right if the Washington Free Beacon (backed by far-right billionaire Paul Singer) attacks your work.
My crime? "Lee has long defended immigrants," represents "a who's who of radical activists" & is "highly critical of both parties on immigration."
Guilty!

The catastrophe along the Guadalupe River is the product of decades of social decay and political reaction. The deaths of nearly 300 people—many of them young girls—are the result. President Trump and Governor Abbott, have blood on their hands.

I appeared on CNN to discuss Trump's crackdown on immigrants & detention of Ward Sakeik:
"What everyone should be thinking about this 4th of July weekend [is] whether we live in a democracy or a dictatorship... This is an extraordinarily dangerous situation. Nobody is safe."

Ward Sakeik has been released from the clutches of Trump's dragnet. In this CNN interview, her attorney, Eric Lee, explains how her detention is part of a far-reaching assault on democratic rights.
