Menin inhibitors like revumenib and ziftomenib show high initial response rates in AML, but durability remains limited due to on-target mutations, off-target clonal evolution, and epigenetic escape. Next-generation combination strategies in the frontline setting may help minimize clonal escape. 📗 Read the full review: bit.ly/4xDEjIM Research by Abdulrahman Alhajahjeh, Maximilian Stahl, Amer M. 👇check this article out. Great Job @kamilkranc and team
Scientists alongside Dr. Kamil R. Kranc revealed that RNA terminal uridylyl transferase enzymes 4 and 7 are druggable therapeutic targets, whose genetic deletion suppresses #AML growth, induces apoptosis, and improves the survival in #leukemic mouse models. 🔖 bit.ly/4ierwZh

Delighted to see our new paper out today in Science Advances! We identify TUT4/7 as therapeutic targets in AML: their deletion or inhibition compromises AML while largely sparing normal haematopoiesis. Thanks to our collaborators & @CR_UK! science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…
Our latest paper on targeting TUT4/7 in acute myeloid leukaemia went live at 7PM, coinciding perfectly with the eclipse. A hike from work to watch and celebrate. More to follow tomorrow, thanks to everyone who contributed, @kamilkranc , @CarrollDonal and many, many others.

Biological aging is accelerating in recent generations and it’s linked to the rise in early-onset cancers @NatureMedicine. In UK Biobank (154k young adults): 1⃣PhenoAge “age gap” ↑ 23% s.d. in people born 1965–74 vs 1950–54 2⃣Each s.d. higher age gap → 8% higher risk of early-onset solid cancers (HR 1.08) 3⃣Strongest for lung (HR 1.57), GI/colorectal, and uterine cancers A new integrative lens on why early-onset cancers are rising and potential prevention targets. nature.com/articles/s41591-0… #EarlyOnsetCancer #BiologicalAging #CancerResearch #AgingResearch #CancerPrevention #PhenoAge

Thrilled to announce that my review paper has been published in Aging and Disease. This work explored how the metabolism of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) changes with age, and how leukemic stem cells (LSCs) exploit similar metabolic pathways to survive and resist therapy. I compared the metabolic programs — glycolysis, mitochondrial OXPHOS, and amino acid and lipid metabolism — of young HSCs, aged HSCs, and LSCs, while also addressing the clinical opportunities and challenges of targeting these vulnerabilities: rejuvenating aged HSCs without driving clonal expansion, and selectively eliminating LSCs while sparing healthy hematopoiesis. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to this rapidly evolving field and to envision how a deeper understanding of stem cell metabolism could one day translate into therapies for aging-related blood disorders and leukemia. eur04.safelinks.protection.o… #Aging #StemCellMetabolism #Leukemia
