Fantastic news. Nationalism, corruption, and flirting with Moscow have been sidelined, mostly by Serbian youth. They know that their future will be bleak if it doesn’t lie with Europe. Vučić’s defeat paves the way for hope—but the road ahead will be steep. bbc.com/news/articles/cw5yn3…

This is so deeply moving and beautiful — strategically, morally, esthetically. Many more will come.

1) He would certainly be a good choice... 2) but there is nothing to negotiate with Moscow—except surrender—and entering into such a process—a smokescreen— would allow the russians, then strengthened, to resume their war against Ukraine and a Europe that would have grown dormant.
POLITICO: Europe is looking for someone responsible for negotiations with the Russian Federation. Among the candidates is Finnish President Stubb. Do you think Alexander Stubb is a good choice? 🤔

Everyone must read this. Thank you, dear Oleksandra, for saying the most important thing about this disgrace.
I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain. Peace negotiations are important in their own right. Even if they do not lead to a lasting peace, the process itself is an opportunity to resolve urgent humanitarian issues. If, of course, the human dimension is a priority for the negotiators. But it is entirely obvious that neither Witkoff nor Kushner cares about people's fates in this war. The Pope calls on Putin to save thousands of people from starvation in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding villages. The UN speaks about a humanitarian catastrophe and asks Russia to allow the evacuation of the civilian population. European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno goes on a hunger strike to draw attention to this tragedy unfolding before the eyes of the whole world. And what are Witkoff and Kushner doing? That's right, almost nothing. Except for passing along greetings from Putin’s aide to the First Lady. Thousands of people are already eating grass to survive and begging to save their lives. The Ukrainian side raises the issue of Oleshky at every meeting. And I can name dozens of such urgent humanitarian issues off the top of my head where American negotiators must be proactive. Trump’s peace negotiations have already gone down in history as the deadliest years for Ukraine’s civilian population since the start of the full-scale invasion. I don’t know if anyone will remember the names of Witkoff and Kushner. But history will certainly record how American negotiators, who had the opportunity to save a huge number of people, refused to raise uncomfortable questions before "humanist Putin."

An "humanitarian" who murdered hundreds of thousands of people? Next time those jerks will certainly talk about a "special humanitarian operation" and depict Mariupol, Bucha, Irpin, Kramatorak as "humanitarian gestures".
Witkoff to Putin: “You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian -- you are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.”

It's contradictory to assert—rightly—that “Ukraine is fighting for us,” “Europe’s line of defense runs through Ukraine,” and “Kyiv's fall will herald Europe's,” and yet to stand by and watch without taking action, as if the freedom & security of future generations didn't matter.

Great idea for the EU, the UK, Canada and sone others: issuing a Do Not Buy American Act (defense, Internet, IA, minerals, etc.). It would have a huge effect on our own decision-making process in those fields. We have procrastinated for too long. Hic Rhodus hic Salta.

Garry doesn't mince his words, but he is sadly right. Let's face this truth and let's not push it under the carpet. Forever a bloody spot in our conscience. It should haunt us.
Pardon my language, but not really! It’s the simple truth, and that Europe is largely fine with watching courageous Ukraine suffer this horror on their behalf is an abomination of the soul.

The russians have "only" murdered hundreds of thousands of people. This despicable bastard is fine with that. Nauseous.
Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

russia is a death machine. Their only purpose is to kill, and to kill again and again. They won't stop as long as they are not stopped by force. The European countries must now act; it's not an option but their categorical imperative before history—and humanity.
A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A “shahed” struck people directly – in a park near an ordinary café. Pure atrocity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in a stroller – her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children. I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine under these circumstances and helps us shoot down “shaheds,” shoot down missiles, and stop Russian assaults. These are horrific photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Lives must be protected. Ukraine needs air defense. You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue. We ask America to be strong, and we ask it to apply the Lindsey Graham law. We ask Europe to continue its support. We ask that everything possible be done to bring peace and guarantee security. Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted on continuing the killing all this time. The world has enough strength to stop the war. That strength must finally be used – against the murderers.

Exactly this. Allies are genuine allies if we trust them, or they are not, in this realm and in others.
If we cannot be 100% certain that a technology will be available when we need it most, we cannot trust it at all. That’s how trust works. Either it’s absolute, or it doesn’t exist.

Please read this outstanding piece by @NTenzer "Ukraine’s relentless loneliness- and the machine of history". At the moment of "the United States' abandonment - and even betrayal" of Ukraine, "Europe's isolation could turn into a fatal fate [without] a compréhensive response."
In this 186th essay for my IR journal, Tenzer Strategics, I reflect on Ukraine’s loneliness—beyond the US’s betrayal—its strategic significance, and what it reveals about Europe’s destiny, before offering some thoughts on the end of the transatlantic bond. tenzerstrategics.substack.co…
