this is the issue with any sorta "you're running outta time" narrative in open world rpgs imo, unless you're gonna actually punish the player for taking too long i think its better to not have this kind of story beat in a game
Final read-through is complete!
We are mere days away.
The digital edition will become available first, the print versions won't be too far behind (probably just a few days). I will definitely share links once they become available.

Not saying they used AI for anything in 2.5, but uhhh yeah I wouldn't hold your breath that CDPR doesn't or won't be using AI in their workflows, especially considering their move to Unreal

it’s so funny seeing the cyberpunk fandom recycle the same discourse everyday since 2.5 dropped. River Hate, Voodoo Boys vs Netwatch, Songbird vs Reed

It's that day again!

Hi Sandy. Are you well? This is wrong. On January 1, 1993, we sent a press release saying that multiplayer would be in DOOM, a full 8 months before you joined the company. We knew deathmatch would be huge. In that press release, in January 1993, we said multiplayer would be "the number one cause of decreased productivity in businesses around the world." We were sure of it, and we needed no convincing. I understand you are proud of your work on DOOM, and you should be, but please also respect the accuracy of your statements, particularly around game history. My concern is that these false statements are designed to trigger replies (like this one), reposts, and outrage discussion, all with the view of increasing your followers and subscriptions, particularly since this false deathmatch story (among others) is so easily disproved. I’ve even welcomed you to reach out to me ahead of time. You seem to appreciate game history as much as I do. Could you not also make yours accurate?

Ok but like this looks super chill and pleasing, and it's supposed to be coming out soon?
*wishlisted*!
If Steam doesn't get the AI shit sorted out soon, things like Next Fest are going to become effectively worthless and I'd bet that engagement within it absolutely tanks
It was an absolute AI slop wasteland looking through this Next Fest
Steam Next Fest's October 2026 edition had 7.3K demos, up 66% on the last edition (@alineaanalytics estimates).
Despite some recent in-the-right-direction changes to recommendations, Steam has always had a discoverability problem. There’s just too many bloody games, and the attention economy is already oversaturated.
And with the advent of generative AI, things are getting even weirder. There are now even more games constantly flowing onto Steam, including plenty of AI slop. This spells difficult news for Next Fest, which was already pushing it when it comes to the number of showcased games.
While the recent edition had some BANGER demos, the sheer number of them – and the number of AI-generated demos – has been the talk of the town.
As you can see in the image, October 2026’s Next Fest showcased 7.3K games, up 66% from the previous edition in June 2026 and more than twice the number from the October event last year. The number of demos has grown by 10X since the October 2022 edition.
Who else is pumped to check out 30K demos in October 2028’s Next Fest?
Surely something’s got to give here. Outside of games that already have momentum, it's practically impossible to make an impact here - edge cases aside.

No other modern RPG has handled distinct character backgrounds with as much care and cinematic flair as Dragon Age: Origins.

"But Cyberpunk-"
What about Cyberpunk? Its a great game but those "origins" tell very little about the world and don't have that value of reoccurring characters in the narrative. Nothing feels quite strong as seeing Leskey betray after knowing him. Or finally killing Howe.
