The Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers is the highest honour a young person can achieve in our province. Earlier this week, we celebrated the recipients whose selfless giving and commitment are key to strengthening the cultural fabric of our great nation.

Congratulations to all recipients. It always delights me to see our youth taking such a vested interested in their communities and paying forward at such an early age. Bravo, exemplary citizenship 👏🙏🏼🫡

We welcome @NHSEngland finally recognising the need to fix the broken training system. But action is needed now - There is little benefit in rearranging the deck chairs while a ship is sinking. We’re ready to work with NHS England to deliver real reform. bma.org.uk/bma-media-centre/…

Comprehensive education is an absolute must for the sake of patient outcomes.
Viewpoint: Medical students and residents need to be educated on health policy issues like insurance, payment models, and drug regulation to better understand the factors that impact patient health outcomes. ja.ma/4eKvXWk

Millions of Ontarians don’t have access to a family doctor — this is a crisis. The solution isn’t replacing family doctors, but building stronger, integrated teams that work together for patients. Patients deserve collaboration, not shortcuts. Watch @DominikNowakMD explain⬇️

This morning, our government announced the opening of a new mental health unit for both adults and youth. Construction is set to begin in January 2026 at the Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington. This represents another step forward in our commitment to mental health.

An important population within the healthcare system that is often overlooked. Promising to see more attention being brought to support our front line workers in Ontario
Honoured to announce that our government is investing $32M into expanding mental health supports for public safety personal. This new investment is providing specialized services for our front-line workers, which gives them the support they deserve.

We think that all memory is stored in the brain. But our study published today in @NatureComms shows that all cells—even kidney cells—can count, detect patterns, store memories, and do so similarly to brain cells. My first (co)corresponding author paper!🧵nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

The Toronto Star says only 10 of 3800 med students in Ontario are international. Total gaslighting by @fordnation
Replying to @trclosson
All of Ontarios medical schools except McMaster require Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status to apply. It’s gaslighting on an epic scale and few newspapers bothered to fact check.

Finally seeing someone shed light on this. @fordnation announcement does very little to promote pathways for Canadian students to become doctors. Around 40% of students @RCSI_Irl are Canadian — this country needs to do more to retain capable medical students wanting to work here.
Currently only 9 of 3,000 Medical Students in Canada are foreign students. This part of the announcement is Gaslighting.

When pathways to apply to med schools in Ontario are inherently restrictive. Students wanting to study here are not given that opportunity. This is not a recent issue either, this CMAJ article from 2000 sheds light on this exact problem. cmaj.ca/content/cmaj/162/6/8…

Announcing that international students are barred from applying to Ontario Medical schools really has no significant impact. Rather, the number of seats in medical schools need to be expanded, and there needs to be more funding for rural and primary care training.

Ontario’s health care is at a breaking point. 2.5 million people are without a family doctor, and over 20,000 are in Kington alone. We need action NOW. Join the #StopTheCrisis campaign and demand better health care in Ontario. Visit stopthehealthcrisis.ca
