Classic is easy as fuck. People beat it in 2006 without it being solved + without minmax guides. People beat Molten Core before level 60 in 2019.

Handcrafted by experts & with statements from Blizzard, this tier list explains the best DPS classes/specs at level 60 WITH raid gear. Pick these if you're struggling with picking a class based off of their damage.
Warrior: Historically one of the best scaling DPS classes and already showing great results with talent changes & forever adjustments. Also stated by Blizzard to be the number 1 DPS by far when it becomes a cleave fight.
Rogue: Non-hybrid classes will always deal more damage than hybdrid classes (with the sole exception of warriors ofcourse). Also stated by the developer team to become the Number 1
Mage: The caster version of warrior, insane scaling and always has a spec in S tier depending on the patch/gear stats. The addition of the Skyborne race giving in combat mana regeneration and a 2% haste passive causes this class to scale even harder than before. (PREDICTED META AT START = ARCANE/FIRE -> FIRE/FROST LATER ON)
Hunter: Non-hybrid DPS class, will deal more damage thaen any other hybrid class. Every hunter spec will use melee-weaving, however survival benefits exceptionally more from melee-weaving than the other specs and their damage with melee-weaving will be at a VERY high level in Forever when executed properly. A
Warlock: Only non-hybrid class to be at a solid A tier post nerfs, still an amazing pick for PvP but will not do as much damage as Warr/Mage/Rogue/Hunter.
Paladin/Shaman/Priest/Druid: These classes are HYBRID classes. No matter what the sims show or say, they have no PROPER data. Blizzard themselves have said that in the podcast that Hybrid classes will never do more pure DPS than non-hybrid classes (with the exception of Warrior). Whatever data is being shown now will be tuned down before/after the phase 1 raids get released. Enhance and Feral will be the better DPS spec of their class, but they will still be below the Non-Hybrid DPS classes.

In modern ttrpg's the possibility of failure is still everpresent. The difference with older games is that players have options that mean with good play they CAN win, whereas in older games failure is the norm and success is both arbitrary and rare.
I wonder if new folks ever get tired of the power fantasy in modern heroic RPGs. Same problem I have with a lot of movies. They make the monsters and villains look absolutely terrifying, but you never really believe the heroes are in danger.
When the PCs are just expected to win every fight, doesn’t that eventually suck some of the oomph out of it? Especially if that’s the only way you’ve ever played.

I just came across the Paladin discourse. Paladins can be way more than what most people box them in as. A paladin who serves a dark power, or falls from grace, has way more to work with than one who’s pure and good because he serves God.

A team of RPG designers has unveiled new firearm rules featuring constant jams, painfully slow reloads, and pistols that somehow do less damage than a bow.
“Guns are notoriously unreliable,” said the lead designer, who has never actually fired one. “We did a lot of research. Mostly movies and video games.”
During playtesting, a gun owner mentioned he'd fired thousands of rounds without a single malfunction. The designers told him that didn't count.
He then asked whether archers would have to roll for broken bowstrings and damaged arrows.
“Of course not,” replied the designer. “This is a fantasy game. We have dragons, fireballs, and flying castles. A gun that actually works would just be ridiculous.”
The designers later reported that their firearm rules had been a tremendous success. Even players who wanted guns in fantasy had stopped using them.

Actually, no, the ad&d paladin was the bastardization because it was based on the shitty charlemagne version, which isn't the historically accurate one. When you actually trace the definition of the word to its origin points by your own logic, no one is using the correct version of a paladin.
