During the reformation the lectern was carried outside to the bishop’s garden to escape an angry mob intent on ransacking the cathedral. It was dug up again and returned many years later. Apparently the young pelican chicks went missing at this time. It’s still a wonderful thing.

Who knew that Dave Chappelle’s legendary Black Bush impression could also double as @SarahHuckabee giving a #lecterngate presser 😂
#NEWS: @SarahHuckabee response to not using the lectern (which is currently under audit said to be welcomed by the governor) in today's press conference:

Levitating eagle lectern with very long johns from, fittingly, St John, #Glastonbury, for #SundaySermons pls excuse glimpse of OH in background... Also a good, serviceable podium.

I’m fairly certain Merrick Garland would’ve dropped the mic, had it not been attached to the lectern – at Pflugerville, TX

During the debate I thought if it comes down to Calvey or this lectern I’m going with the lectern.

@MCEC #ICEM22 @acemonline a simple point and opportunity I don’t think the lectern was designed for shorter humans #unconsciousbias #equality

At the entrance to the north ambulatory at Gloucester cathedrals this really super stone lectern. Most likely for monkish readings than any connection to the almost adjacent shrine tomb of King Edward II.

#LecternOfTheDay at the extraordinary Church of St. Michael & All Angels at Clifton Hampden. The 1st time I saw this diminutive church perched high on a mini-Alpine peak, I could scarcely believe my eyes.
This eagle has a look of noble but great suffering about him! @NotPodium
