I think it was the medium: screen + mindless entertainment, I mean it was 1995, internet just started - there was no TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

He probably saw this coming when offshoring, started with Taiwan (might remember "Made in Taiwan" was a common sticker on items back in the 80s), then manufacturing started migrating to China in the mid-90's when this book was released.

Its no secret, he wanted to help his girlfriend. "Officials specifically cite a Nov. 20, 2025, email, where Brinksman told a friend that he was eager to help his girlfriend’s career take off prior to getting access to the classified reports."

Those were the few examples he had to work with, but the MEDIUM is the same - a screen. Mindless entertainment like Twitch, TikTok, from bed rot to doom scrolling. No lofty goals but to swipe 😜

Only if some is dancing in their kitchen reading it to them. Of course I'm kidding, it would have to be a new TikTok dance per paragraph 😆

Probably true. Today 54% of Americans are unable to read above the 5th grade reading level. Put it this way, in 1980 AD&D was considered 10th grade reading level, but most 7th and 8th graders powered through to play. Today... .

Actually, this will be free! Like my whole game is at OpenDungeons.com But I hope, in the future, I can do a Kickstarter to convert my other adventures, or new adventures into more of these ttrpg solo games. Its a lot of money, work, and time to make this all happen.

Building my game, virtual ttrpg: DN, 2 virtual players and you. Basically an interactive solo ttrpg based on one of my adventures - its like you're at the table playing with others... but solo :)

Blame Airbnb, house flippers, investors - home were meant to be lived in - they are the ones that drove up costs. Put it this way, in the 1980s and 90s poor neighborhoods had one thing in common: they all bought a home.
