You boys in East Texas are doing Tea all wrong. First, a trash can? Really? Tea is not meant for serving in trash cans. Trash cans are made with non-food-grade plastics that leach hazardous chemicals into liquids. The material lacks heat tolerance and structural support for heavy liquids, making it unstable and difficult to sanitize. Second, let's talk ingredients. Most likely, this is made with a common black tea, widely available yet declining market share for good reason. Cultivated in places like China and India, massive labor issues, contamination concerns at collection / processing sites and shipping across the world are just a few issues that come to mind. Further, it lacks substantive health value, in other words, it's no good. You like tea, there are better options. Then comes sugar for the sweetness. Here are the problems: - High Caloric Density: Contributes to weight gain without providing satiety or nutritional value. - ​Blood Sugar Spikes: Rapidly elevates blood glucose and insulin levels, increasing long-term risks for type 2 diabetes. - ​Dental Decay: Feeds harmful mouth bacteria, producing acids that erode enamel and cause cavities. - ​Cardiovascular Risks: Excess added sugar consumption correlates with chronic inflammation and elevated heart disease risk. You like sweetness, there are better options. Now let's talk preparation. On top of these substandard ingredients and delivery vessel, preparing a batch this size actually requires multiple cooks to be conducted. One option would be to boil a bunch of tea separately, throw it in the trash can and then add untold amounts of sugar after the cook. This means each batch is not standard and risks sugar sitting at bottom of the container...right near the dispenser...as the tea has undergone the cooking process and has started to cool already. If they were to boil it and combine sugar in each batch, they risk overall ratios being off, also, not standardized. Either way is not ideal.
