The Enugu State APC recently released its Campaign Council list, which included Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Bishop Ernest Obodo, and other prominent Christian clerics. Today, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu and CAN, Enugu State Chapter, issued disclaimers distancing themselves from the list. Last Sunday in Akwukwu-Igbo/Atuma Ward 1, I stood with Hon. Aaron Udoka Ebenuwa, our Delta North Chairman, and other NDC leaders, including Hon. Ashinze Charles Obiodogwu, our Oshimili North House of Assembly candidate, to welcome a large group of former APC members and supporters into the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Chief Oblak Agbabu, Chief Ben Paymaster and the others who crossed over spoke plainly of years of marginalisation and neglect in Akuku-Igbo, despite the communityโs past loyalty to the APC. They pointed to the absence of meaningful projects and asked what further loyalty had produced. In a clear break, they gathered their APC brooms and set them alight, declaring the association finished.
Those who laugh at us today, I said, should not be surprised to find themselves with us tomorrow, because the NDC through Peter Obi, Chris Iyovwaye, Victor Ochei, Isioma Ndah and Ashinze Charles Obiodogwu, is an idea whose time has come.
I also assured them that, if elected, the NDC would treat Akwukwu-Igbo as the headquarters of Oshimili North and prioritise its development and inclusion.
The day was another sign of the realignments under way in Oshimili North as we intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

What happened at Sheikh Ibrahim Jalo Jalingoโs mosque during Jumuโah prayer was deeply disappointing.
Worshippers walking out and allegedly attempting to pull the cleric down from the pulpit because he expressed support for President Tinubuโs re-election was unacceptable.
Equally, the Friday sermon should not be turned into a political campaign platform.
Disagreement is not a justification for disrespect or confrontation. Those who disagree with a clericโs political views should respectfully disregard them.
Let us protect the sanctity of our mosques and respect our Islamic scholars.

BAYELSA STATE: WARM CONGRATULATIONS TO SENATOR HENRY SERIAKE DICKSON
Yesterday, 30th October 2026, I travelled from Enugu to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to attend the homecoming ceremony honouring my dear brother and our Partyโs National Leader, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, while continuing our engagement with the people.
During the grand event, I reminded the good people of Bayelsa State that, after more than three years in office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not considered it appropriate to spend even one night in Bayelsa State, despite spending over 260 days abroad.
I assured our numerous supporters and the people of Bayelsa State that this will not happen under my leadership. I will visit Bayelsa to hear directly from our people and respond to their concerns.
In Bayelsa, I pledged that we would begin efforts to upgrade ports throughout the Niger Delta, including those in Warri, Port Harcourt, and Calabar. We will also begin construction of the long-delayed Ibaka seaport in Akwa Ibom State and establish a new port in Bayelsa State to serve our riverine communities and the broader Niger Delta more effectively.
I reaffirmed our commitment to unite and secure the country, fight corruption, and make substantial investments in healthcare and education while lifting our people out of poverty.
The visit concluded with my joining Senator Seriake Dickson, for a traditional canoe war game and boat regatta in his hometown of Toru-Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area.
I congratulate my dear brother, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, on his successful return home. I appreciate our partyโs national and state leadership, members as well as the good people of Bayelsa for good organisation, warm reception and successful event.
