Well deserved. Man practically saved gaming in 83' and his impact over the whole landscape is still being felt today
Shigeru Miyamoto has been awarded the "Order of Culture" for his contribution to Japanese culture, one of Japan’s highest honors! He will be the first person from the video game industry to receive the award. Previous recipients have been people such as Nobel prize winners and humanitarian scientists. news.denfaminicogamer.jp/int…

Probably that Ocarina of Time video on its cut maps at a half million views (followed by several others)
"What was your biggest impact on the internet?" somehow this broke containment several times over.

tbf I did miss it on my first go as I was definitely not expecting Keys when I first hit the Forest Temple. Later on when searching around for more keys is when I came up to search here using my map.
"It was easy to miss" There's two gigantic trees and a climbable wall, and nothing else.

I kinda have come to a conclusion that Japan HATES Metroiavanias in general. Whether Metroid or Castlevania, it just doesn't sell there.
Castlevania Belmont's Curse sold 23,251 physical sales in Japan at launch. Platform Split: Switch - 15,630 PS5 - 7,621

This is like if Nintendo stopped being a Video Game company and focused purely on making Pokemon toys or something
Sony's current CEO Hiroki Totoki is aggressively transitioning the company away from most physical electronic products that they are known for and have a deep history with. - Tv (bravia products) division spun off - Physical disc PlayStation games ending - Ending 4k blu ray player production - Exiting car stereo busines - also no longer attending CES. All this was announced over the last 12 months.

Imagine paywalling backwards compatibility
So PS5 is now natively loading PS3 Discs. This was always possible but Sony turned it into a shitty PS Plus "premium" gimmick

I actually like the idea of adding in a locked door at the start of the Forest Temple. The jump from Jabu Jabu to this was large I felt and it was cause locked doors became a thing. For the first thing to do is to learn that keys are needed now is a good thing

My hatred for EA grows evermore. Bioware was such a good studio. before they were bought and like poison, EA just rotted them until it fell apart completely

People keep bringing up Echoes of Wisdom as Zelda dungeons being fixed in an open world but...that is a 2D Zelda (gameplay wise) plays very differently and never was hit with the plauge of simplistic dungeons like BOTW/TOTK Basically 2D Zelda's stay flawless 😎
Do people just pretend that EoW doesn't exist? With TotK they brought back the unique themes of dungeons. With EoW they even brought back their lock-and-key structure. OoTR's success doesn't matter. They already understood the message.

He is right. Skyward Sword is still the worst 3D Zelda imo. But not because its was stale, but cause it got too linear and fetch questy Breath of the Wild fixed that by giving a giant open world but took a major step backwards in dungeon quality. Unfortunately can't have both..
There are certain fans of game franchises that have a misplaced sense of self-righteousness, Zelda fans are a perfect example. There are a number of fans who think of themselves as appointed arbiters and get to dictate what is or isn't considered "Zelda". I remember a time after Skyward Sword's release when Zelda fans were complaining that Zelda was stale and needed to evolve and be more like Skyrim. BOTW comes out and changed a lot of the typical Zelda conventions for the better of the franchise and made Zelda more popular than ever and now you have Zelda purists bitching that BOTW & TOTK "ruined Zelda" and they aren't "real Zelda games". All I can say is shut up. Every franchise needs to evolve and can't stay the same forever, why do fans just want to essentially play the OOT Model (which is actually the LTTP Model) over and over, when devs don't take risks you end up with more of the same scenarios like Metroid Prime 4 which I don't want.

The problem is that BOTW had an amazingly well done open world but terribly done dungeons...and Aonuma can't fathom doing a merger of open world of the new and classic dungeons. It is why it should sell well so everyone wins.
in light of today’s discourse I can’t wait for ocarina of time remake to come out, do well but not touch BOTW numbers, and show these fandom elitists that reality is that format is NOT the most appealing. there’s no conspiracy. there won’t be a great waking up to “botw is bad.”

Zelda shouldn't fully be locked to this boxed in "classic formula" even if OOT is a runaway success. This formula was getting stagnant by the time of Skyward Sword which is why they made BOTW. Of course I believe they went too hard into it that dungeons lost their complexity
Reminder ahead of Nov 5: Even if the Ocarina of Time remake does monster numbers, the takeaway shouldn't be "lock Zelda back into the classic formula forever." Stagnation is the worst thing that could happen to the franchise. Reinvention is why BotW and TotK succeeded. The ideal future isn’t choosing between the OOT era and the BoTW/TotK era, it’s taking the strengths of both eras to build something new.

"Ocarina of Time Remake won't sell more than BOTW cause the Switch 1 sold more" Did it? Because Switch 2 is outpacing it and BOTW started with 0 units sold while OOTR has the advantage of 23 mil units already But sure let's wait 5 years and see

I was wondering where this was...I can't believe this was in the well of the Forest Temple. It use to look soooo generic
Quelques secondes gameplay en exclu pour The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time sur Nintendo Switch 2 où j’ai particulièrement apprécié les jeux de lumière et le rendu sur la tenue de Link, son bouclier 👍 Hâte d’être au 5 novembre 😉 @NintendoFrance @laboitecom

>You think this Zelda will outsell Ocarina of Time (N64)? >You think this Zelda will outsell Twilight Princess? And yet both got outsold eventually by a latter Zelda. Also remember, new BOTW fans are in general very interest in the remake. You guys make it sound they don't
Replying to @Obsessive_Gamer
You don't actually think the Ocrania of Time Remake is going to sell more than 34 million units do you?

So many problems with this: 1) BOTW took influence from all forms of Zelda. Zelda 1's openness, OOT-style dungeons to a degree, TP horseback, etc 2) Zelda 1 wasn't openworld, it had progression and locked you out wihtou the right items. 3) The OOT's model started with ALTTP
It's infuriating to see so many Zelda fans not know what they are talking about. The "OOT Model" of 3D Zelda isn't the "traditional model" the original LOZ is. BOTW is a modernization of the original LOZ. The OOT Model only came about because the technology didn't exist at the time for the devs to make a true open world LOZ like the original. If you prefer the OOT model that is fine but don't say it's the traditional model cause it sure as hell isn't.

Also Zelda 1 isn't open world. It's literally big boxes stitched together to go from one to another. That's alot how Ocarina of Time is. If Zelda 1 is open world, so is Ocarina of Time

When I say OOT dungeons to a degree, I mean it's still based on that foundation even if it radically changed it up. That is one aspect that cannot be denied
