We’ll be watching how you vote today on @bridsmithTD’s Climate Emergency Measures bill @JohnLahart @brophytalks @FNDuffy @SeanCroweTD @paulmurphy_TD.
Please support Brid’s bill. We can’t afford these data centre energy demands 👀👇when we’re trying to decarbonise our society.
Ireland is fast becoming known as the data centre capital of Europe.
And these centres use a lot of electricity. Paul Deane from UCC Environmental Research Institute compared the electricity use of a data centre with a house, a school and a hospital.

Ministers must refuse to sign off on #CAP plan until assurances are provided that the best possible scheme for waders is published. @MichealMartinTD you signed the #LeadersPledgeforNature. Time to stand up for it now. @EamonRyan @cathmartingreen @pippa_hackett
Govt will sign off 2moro on 🇮🇪 draft #CAP Strategic Plan at cabinet but there's still NO SCHEME to halt the losses of breeding waders like Curlew, Lapwing, Snipe, etc on farmland. Catastrophic state failure to address biodiversity emergency. @jwojc @TimmermansEU @curlewcalls

Is @WWF growing cold on @OriginGreen?
Last month, with @AnTaisce, we met WWF and asked them to disassociate themselves from this greenwashing programme.

If you want to see rewilding in Ireland please email [email protected] before Wednesday December 8th.
Simply ask that rewilding be included in the options for farmers who are in receipt of CAP payments.

We are letting the very rich grab the natural wealth on which we all depend.
My column argues that the most important of all environmental measures are wealth taxes.

Heartbreaking lack of humanity.
Situation on #Poland/ #BelarusBorder is deeply concerning.
I’ve arrived this morning at the #Poland / #Belarus border. We just met with this group of Iraqi Kurdish families with 8 #children. They attempted to cross the border 9 times & for 9 times they had been pushed back. #refugees #Migrants #migration #asylum @AlessioMamo

So powerful. @GretaThunberg at least one leader - albeit a former head of state - has broken ranks and spoken the plain truth. Thank you, Mary. – at Falkirk, Scotland
An emotional Mary Robinson, Chair of @TheElders and former President of Ireland slams leaders for not being in crisis mode and blames Saudi Arabia for blocking @skynews #COP26 Today will be very important.

Fossil fuel companies run COP in all but name. Their delegation, if it was a country, would be the largest of any state. Double that of the Indigenous constituency, and wielding enormous power in the shadows. COP is discredited and delegitimized by their presence.
Fossil Fuel lobbyists have no place at #COP26. Instead, we should prioritise Indigenous peoples and civil society, according to @kevkeane111 of @AnTaisce 1/2

🚫🦄We don't have any more time to waste on fairy tales and empty promises! 🦄🚫
Carbon markets, #NetZero plans, and other #FalseSolutions only delay real climate action & greenwash the image of those who have driven the #ClimateCrisis.
At #COP26 we say: no more!
