Sudan has accused Ethiopia of allowing 162 drone attacks to be launched from its territory, alleging that the strikes killed more than 400 civilians and 102 military personnel during what it described as Ethiopia-Emirati aggression against Sudan. At a joint press conference in Khartoum, Sudanese government and intelligence officials presented technical flight data and satellite imagery implicating neighbouring Ethiopia in a wave of cross-border drone strikes targeting civilian sites, fuel depots, and power infrastructure across multiple states. Over the past week alone, the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a militia that the UN has accused of g*nocide in Sudan, has systematically targeted Sudan's power grid with drone strikes fired from Ethiopia attacking at least 10 power substations in army-held areas, triggering widespread blackouts. Sudan revealed how several types of unmanned aircraft had been used in Ethiopian operations, identifying Chinese and Turkish drones. "The problem is that Ethiopia is launching drone attacks across the border against civilian and military sites inside Sudan," said former US diplomat Cameron Hudson. "That's an act of war, even if done in support of the RSF. This is another discussion that the UN Security Council would be right to examine," he added. "Unless the Sudanese Gov is willing to start taking action against Ethiopia these drone strikes will not stop," argued analyst Mohanad Elbalal, the co-founder of Khartoum Aid Kitchen. "It is inexplicable that Sudanese airspace is still open to Ethiopia, the first step is to issue Ethiopia with a formal notice of airspace closure," he said.
