Full details of a remotely exploitable vulnerability in the core engine of *all* PHP versions will be released tomorrow, October 21st. If your organization has internet facing PHP applications then you need to be ready to patch the minute the update is released or *strongly* consider taking the application offline until you can:
php.net/index.php#2026-10-20…
🚨 PHP warns of two critical vulnerabilities as emergency patches arrive tomorrow
The PHP security team will release updates on October 21 at 14:00 UTC for two vulnerabilities, each rated 9.2 under CVSS v4.0.
⠀
Security researchers identified the flaws as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 and described them as remote code execution vulnerabilities reportedly affecting PHP versions 5 through 8.
PHP has not yet confirmed the affected versions, exploitation requirements or fixed releases.
⠀
The vulnerabilities were reportedly leaked before their planned disclosure. Researchers said they have not observed active exploitation, while PHP warned it may release the patches early if technical details become public or exploitation is detected.
⠀
Administrators should identify PHP installations now and prepare to apply the updates as soon as they become available.

I wanted to explain a little more why I think the name "Super Intelligence" is a bad replacement for AI because I mentioned earlier there are numerous reasons and its certainly worth sharing.
1. As I mentioned in my original post, I do not like the name "Super Intelligence" because it doesn't remind people that its "Artificial" or "Machine" Intelligence. This is not a good idea and is incredibly dangerous as it will result in people over relying on AI at times when they need to be extremely critical.
2. This is going to mislead an entire generation into calling something "Super Intelligence" when we have no measure for what Super Intelligence even is, which is quite dangerous. How do you know something is provably smarter than any humans let alone all humans, especially if it fails on basic logical tests?
3. This rebranding is like if tobacco companies were to rename a cigarette to a candy cane, and is now a thing for AI because frontier companies have been compromised by their poor decision making in hiring psychologists and philosophy majors to align models.
4. We do not fully understand the impact that AI use has on the human brain, for us to race to rename something which we don't even know how it impacts us or what potential harms there are for some populations say for example autists, some of whom are actually building these models. What if they are falling victim to their own work?
A Zero Day Vulnerability in their hardware because their brain perceives the Hidden Markov Layers in Language Model Responses differently. We need research on this urgently before we continue to take advice from the people who are telling us AI is going to End the World but before it does it will cure cancer. And the logic of it all just doesn't add up, science is being given a back seat to folklore in blog posts.
Right inline with the objectives of Effective Altruism, and the like's of Eli "I don't know if a baby is a person until its 4 years old" Yudkowsky. Also inline with those who want to hijack science for a world where claimed discoveries no longer need to be provable, no longer require scientific rigor, or validation of claims through observation.
5. Even with the rebranding, it doesn't fix the broken ecosystem of people who are delusional about this subject, and the actual naming itself is only going to induce additional delusion on this subject.
Sam Altman said recently we should all be willing to accept that some bad things are going to happen for us to see the benefits of AI. This is absolute bonkers level of stupid. We have laws, if you break the law, you should be charged and tried. Our DOJ needs to do a better job here because we cannot have people operating above the law and claiming we just need to get used to it. Regardless if a company serves the US Government, if they, their founders, or employees break a law they should be subject to charges like the rest of us.
Society need not assume harms, not democratically accepted, because the greed of the black suits in Silicon Valley.
I said this for a few years now, Silicon Valley is the largest domestic threat to US National Security.

I told 200 AI villagers the bread was about to run out. It wasn't. Within 18 hours, 156 of them believed it, and they emptied the bakery three days in a row. Every choice is made by an AI (Jev, by TypeSafe). They all panicked lol.
On day 3 the truth turned up: a flour cart at the bakery and a villager who'd seen the mill. It won in the end, with 172 of 200 knowing it was false by day 5.
But the truth took more than two days to reach as many people as the lie reached in 18 hours, and the bakery kept selling out after it arrived.

The next great conflict may not be fought over land.
It may be fought over:
Attention.
Belief.
Memory.
Identity.
Reality.
The battlefield is consciousness.

browsers can block videos, they can't block text.
this repo converts any video into real-time ASCII art and streams binary-encoded frames through WebSockets
→ 30 FPS playback on HTML5 Canvas
→ B&W to 16 million color modes
→ no GPU needed in ASCII mode it's just characters on a screen
→ autoplay restrictions don't apply it's not a <video> element
the browser doesn't even know it's watching a video.

I know you're all getting mighty tired of seeing typography on your timeline today!
But here's a pretext.js demo that (hopefully) isn't a crime against justification and indentation.

I’m excited for the future of interfaces

My dear front-end developers (and anyone who’s interested in the future of interfaces):
I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept):
Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow
