“Do you guys have any advice like, just for me in general just to try to keep going, things I got to work on, anything that you guys see that I don’t see?” 👏
After 100+ pubs & 2 decades in sport and clinical research, I wonder if sports science peer review has overcorrected. Methodological and statistical rigour matter, absolutely, but when did splitting hairs over the HOW become more important than understanding the WHY and SO WHAT?

Labour’s announcement to ban social media for under 16 year olds is a naive solution to a genuine issue.
Throwing out simplistic sound bites denies the reality that banning social media in its entirety means either banning VPNs or using digital ID for everyone - otherwise it’s a fools errand and meaningless.
The failure in Australia to implement such laws highlights this and Labour knows it.
Everyone with children wants them protected from the harms of social media, but the threat of everyone needing to lose privacy and freedoms to enable that to happen is what Labour needs to explain to kiwis.
Ultimately we need to ask ourselves as a country how far we want the government to overreach into the responsibilities of parents, but most importantly the rights of parents.
If we start down this innocent pathway it will become very slippery and won’t stop.
Election period promises that sound good should not hide the serious nature of the solution, nor of the seriousness of the problem we all agree should be addressed.
PS
Between 2020-2023 what did Labour ever do about the problem they are now promising to solve.
Well that sucks....and I believe 3 achilles tendon injuries this pre season???

Big news. We’ve spent 22 years building a rock star team in China. Yesterday we announced their new home: ZURU’s new China HQ!
We’re taking eight floors in the Spring Bamboo tower in Nanshan, Shenzhen. Approximately 32,000 square metres / 345,000 square feet, with capacity for around 3,000 ZURU team members and room to grow as we take on more floors. Each floor plate topping 4000 square meters !
This world class office will bring together our teams ZURU Tech ZURU Toys ZURU Edge across design, engineering, merchandising, finance, talent, project management, software, automation and many more functions.
Our incredible China team is at the heart of everything we do. Giving them a even more world class environment to collaborate, create and keep pushing every tiny detail forward is something we’re hugely excited about.
I’ve added a few photos at the end of our second and third ever offices in China back in 2004/2005. A pretty cool reminder of where we started!
The next few years are shaping up to deliver huge growth. We will continue to invest in our infrastructure factories, offices and showrooms around the world. Very excited to keep pushing with this incredible team.

The review we had for this paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4265… was actually one of the most constructive reviews I've ever had in my 25 year career! @JCM_MDPI had better experiences with @jcm_mdpi than many other 'better rep' journals in terms of professional, constructive reviews.
So with our ongoing cardiac research one of the big questions from the team was "what is happening with our Maori and Pacific patients?" - so we looked at that too pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4265… @MDPIOpenAccess @JCM_MDPI
For the first time in many years, I have a reviewer response that makes me simply want to bin the paper. 5 pages of comments, responses, many of which are fundamentally wrong. Not giving it to the student on it, would be demoralising to get that.

I wouldn’t normally listen to Ed Sheeran much - if at all.
But I’m putting him on my Spotify playlist today.
Not because I necessarily share his politics (or even know what they are).
But because I object to the cancellation machine: the idea that artists must publicly endorse the approved political position - or face walkouts, denunciations and demands that their work be cancelled.
Sheeran has made clear that he wants his concerts to be welcoming entertainment, not political rallies. That is a perfectly legitimate boundary.
So, Ed Sheeran it is today.
Well done, idiots 🙄
Once upon a time when I still taught, I would get on my undergrad about adverbs (DON'T). Let the facts create meaning etc etc.....now in another country and my post-grads here needed that lesson 🤣and top stop letting AI edit their work too much.

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

Corticosteroid injections for tennis elbow can make it feel amazing. BUT clinical trials have found that while it can help in the short term, most people are actually WORSE in the long term. That’s because an injection only masks the symptoms. It doesn’t improve tendon resilience. In fact, corticosteroid injections can weaken the tendon and increase risk for tears. I’ve found that isometric protocols (for acute pain), progressing to heavy slow resistance protocols (HSR), are best for fixing tendon issues in the long run.
