1/ Early voting is over. Who did turnout help in Texas? 🧵 This map compares each county’s share of the statewide vote with its usual share in the 2024 Senate race. It’s about who’s showing up, not how they’re voting. #TXSen #Midterms2026 votes.stevenrdavid.com/texas…

Saddened by the passing of Garnet Coleman, a champion of health, affordable housing, and economic mobility, and a dedicated political and community leader. He was instrumental in the creation and growth of the Hobby School and a valued partner in many CPP projects and activities.
Coleman died of natural causes on Wednesday, his family said in a statement. He had been living with serious complications from diabetes for years. houstonchronicle.com/politic…

Garnet Coleman has gone to a better world.  He was a force of nature.  There are many things that will be written about this formidable man, including the fact that the Hobby School exists due in large part to his tireless efforts.   Thank you for everything Garnet.

I am very angry and extremely disappointed that a person was shot on the streets of Austin by ICE. While I’m angry and disappointed, I’m not surprised. This has happened in other cities. With the rogue nature of ICE and the chaos we’re seeing fomented by ICE, there’s no reason to be surprised. Austinites have a right to know what happened and they have a right to feel safe in their community. Though APD was not involved in the shooting, I believe that there needs to be an investigation that APD assures is clear-eyed, as complete as possible, and independent. I’ve discussed this with Chief Davis. Chief Davis deployed APD’s Special Investigation Unit and the Unit has been on scene this afternoon. This is the same unit that investigates Austin’s officer involved shootings. Chief Davis has also been in contact with the Texas Rangers and has asked the Rangers to assist in an investigation. This participation with the Texas Rangers will be important due to the access the Texas Department of Public Safety had early in the incident. As the city continues to receive more information, we will make sure to keep the community aware.

Many leave without a family or support network to rely on. To help bridge that gap, Hogar María Luisa created Pre-Independent Living Homes, where young adults can finish school, find their first job, learn to manage money and a household, and prepare for independent life.

In March 2027, Hogar María Luisa will open a new home for 15 young people and is raising funds to equip it. The first goal is very concrete: $729 for a 40-gallon water heater. Any contribution, or simply sharing the campaign, can help turn this new house into a home.
