Finally, some notable omissions that I suspect might have made the list, but I didn’t play enough of to make the call:
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
- Demon’s Souls Remake

#1 - Persona 5 Royal
The contest for my top spot this year was not close. As soon as I wrapped on it, I knew that (failing something insanely good yet to come) P5R was not only my GOTY, but also likely to land high in my all time favourites list. And it has.

#2 - Ghost of Tsushima
An utterly stunning game visually, but also managed to capture an incredible feel of exploration across the feudal Japan setting without falling into many of the typical open world bloat traps.

#3 - The Last of Us: Part 2
Wow, what a way to send off the last Playstation generation. This game was an incredible feat in so many ways, but the world building, character development and raw acting talent are the real highlights for me.

#4 - Destiny 2: Beyond Light
Technically an expansion and not a full new game, but my list = my rules. It's big enough and awesome enough to warrant a high spot for me, plus - D2 continues to rock.

#5 - Genshin Impact
Now we're getting into the GOOD SHIT. I freaking love Genshin Impact. Yes, it's a Gacha game. Yeah, it's blatant weeaboo bait. I don't care, because it's also a lot more than that and actually a super solid game with loads of replay value.

#6 - Spider-Man: Miles Morales
This could have easily been more of the same Insomniac Spidey, but it succeeded at being greater than than. Oh damn - the marketing spin got to me!

#7 - DOOM Eternal
Ahh, DOOM. The fact that I can put a DOOM game down and it's not in a top 3 spot either means that something went disastrously wrong with it, or something went extremely right with the stuff that beat it. Fortunately, it's more the latter.

#8 - Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Despite really loving this game, I don't have a whole bunch more to say about it except for the fact that it was more Ori - which frankly is exactly what I wanted.

#9 - Hades
Look, straight up - I need to play more Hades. It has all the ticks for stuff I really jive with. Awesome soundtrack, cool characters, great narrative, rad art, excellent gameplay and systems...

#10 - Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Well, ACNH was certainly the game we needed at the time we got it. I feel (like most of the world) that this game was a much bigger hit with me than it would have been without a global pandemic, but still - I can't deny the fun time I had.

With 2020 finally done, I want to put brain to keyboard and bang out my usual summary of personal top 10 games of the year. I did cover my top 3 on our final episode of the Party Loaded Podcast, but consider this a more robust writeup I guess.

I joined the @PartyLoadedShow crew on episode #112, so with our final show being #237 that makes my tenure 125 episodes. Not a bad number! Was a blast and I'll miss it, but it's better to burn out than fade away.
Party Loaded Episode #237 is live! It's our Ultimate Grand Finale episode with loads of #Cyberpunk2077 talk, #TheGameAwards highlights, and the big finish for our 2020 Party Favourites reveals!

I know that shitting on CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077 has been The Thing on Twitter for the last week, but the news today and my personal feelings on the game really leave me with a pit in my stomach.
The devs who knew this was coming are the ones that will suffer for it the most.

Had a phenomenal time with the new #Destiny2 #DeepStoneCrypt raid over the weekend. Haven't finished yet, but plan to go back in for the completion during the week. This photo sums up several hours worth of effort tho:
