Faster compliance for Windows devices.
Win32 Apps can show up faster after #WindowsAutopilot. Policies can now arrive within minutes...But compliance was still a different story!
If BitLocker was suspended, the firewall was disabled, or Defender real-time protection was turned off, your device could become non-compliant.
Fix the problem and the device is healthy again. But getting Intune to see that change and mark the device compliant again could take way longer than you wanted.
With the Faster Compliance IME Update, the device no longer has to just wait for the next normal compliance cycle. It can notice certain changes and trigger a new compliance check itself.
So what is Windows watching? What actually triggers that check? And who still decides the final compliance state?
I followed the whole flow using only what the device tells us: the registry and the IME logs:

Managing MDMs this poorly is a choice
We used autopkg and munki to automate this 15 years ago... and there are way better ways to tackle this now
Use VPP where applicable, backfill with @PatchMyPC or similar, or at least put a brew upgrade script in self service if you're lazy

Well… this was pretty cool to see.
Microsoft featured our full Windows Autopilot Device Association series in their new “What’s new for MSPs” roundup. And not just one article. The complete three-part story.
-The technical deep dive on Patch My PC, showing what Device Association is actually doing under the hood.
-The Call4Cloud part, where I took the manual process and automated the association, validation, and removal.
-Back to Patch My PC to put everything next to each other: Classic Autopilot, Autopilot Device Preparation, and Device Association. That was exactly the idea behind the series.
First, understand what it is and how it works. Then automate it. Then zoom back out and understand where it fits in the bigger Autopilot picture.
Pretty cool to see both @PatchMyPC blogs and my Call4Cloud article featured together by @Microsoft @MSIntune @IntuneSuppTeam

This guy I work with wrote a really great blog on thinking about moving to Remote SUPs and when you should or shouldn't move. Also, sometimes, he runs far.

One of the big things Microsoft Windows Autopilot v1 gave us was control over the OOBE.
Skip the pages you did not want and ensure a device name is applied!
With Device Preparation, that totally changed. The tenant only becomes known AFTER the user signs in, which is simply too late to influence those earlier OOBE pages. That is exactly where Device Association comes in.
It gives Windows a way to know which organization the device belongs to BEFORE the user signs in, so it can retrieve those settings early enough to shape OOBE again.
But how does that device association actually work?
-What is inside the exported CSV?
-Why is TPM attestation involved?
-What happens when you click Associate?
-And why does the final association end up in UEFI?
That is what I investigated (and NOT reverse-engineered!!!)

Are you testing Windows Autopilot Device Association?
I guess you have all seen the steps you need to take to associate the device, right?
The manual export, moving the file to another device, importing it into Intune, selecting the Autopilot Device Preparation policy, and returning to the device are not.
That is why I built Get-AutopilotDeviceAssociation.
Think of it as Get-WindowsAutopilotInfo, but for Windows Autopilot Device Association.
With one PowerShell script, you can create the association, register the device in Intune, validate whether the signed association is still present and valid, and remove it from both the device and Intune after testing.
Read the full story and get the script:

I got 4 sessions at @wpninjasummit , to just tell 1 Story: How Intune really works...
The Intune Architecture Explained session is the map. It shows the different paths between Intune, Microsoft services, and the Windows device.
From there, we will zoom in.
-Policy enforcement → what Windows actually does with the policy
-The IME → what happens when an app should install, and why it sometimes does not
-The Device stack → all the agents, services, and components making it happen
So the journey is:
Architecture → Enforcement → IME → Device stack
Four sessions, each going one layer deeper into how Intune really works or doesn't.....

Today, we're going to talk about the activities that we have planned for you at @wpninjasus .
Our activities this year are what make this event so special. Sure, anyone can throw together a bunch of sessions. Don't get me wrong, we have 60+ sessions from one of the finest sets of speakers that have ever been assembled, but we can do better.
January 11th, 2027 will be our pre-day where we do some amazingly fun things throughout the entire day.
🏃 Our #WPNinjasUS Fun Run 5K will kick off at 7 AM at the Canal just a block away. It's sponsored by our friends at @WeAreOmnissa where we will run a few laps for the The @MichaelJFoxOrg
⛳ We will be doing an amazing Golf Tournament sponsored by @FerroqueSystems. at 9 AM, at the incredible The Phoenician Resort where the #PhoenixOpen is played. This event will have a capacity of 40 people, featuring a number of #MVPs and experts in a small and fun setting.
🤓 Our #LegoMasters tournament for those non-golfers will be running 10 AM-2 PM where we will be building the #USSEnterprise in this #StarTrek event. This team format will be a ton of fun, and we certainly encourage you to dress-up in your best #Trekkie outfit for a chance at additional prizes/swag all sponsored by @ControlUp
🤖 The #Hackathon in its second year sponsored by @WorkspaceDNA (the artists f.k.a. #Rimo3), will move to this #RoundRobin format where we will have 5 captains, and they will build their teams live and create an amazing product live with a #Clippy Trophy on the line and other prizes. We will even have our #Scholars involved, as we recently secured funding to sponsor 5-6 people with 3 years or less in tech, once again thanks to our friends at @devicie
🥳 The final event of the night will be the Opening Night Pool Party sponsored by @PatchMyPC , which will have an open bar, incredible buffet, and tons of fun (and likely ducks). This will be a can't miss opportunity to hang out with the attendees and have a blast.
It's not just the preday that has fun activities!!
🐶 Day 1, will feature a Puppy Play Area, where you can play with a bunch of adorable puppies when you've had too much #AI or too much #Microsoft and just need a break from all that tech stuff. This is a special opportunity to de-stress and de-compress with your friends.
🧘 Day 2, will have our Puppies & Yoga event at 7 AM, where you get 45 minutes of yoga, and another 30 minutes of puppy playtime. We love dogs, so what can we really say there?
We're going to have a ton of fun in Scottsdale January 11-13, 2027, and these are just the initial things we have planned. We will continue to add other opportunities for people to have a special time in that amazing 70-degree weather.
