This was the main reason for San Jose Unified School District closing elementary schools. Revenue was up. Student enrollment was down but irresponsible hiring of staff led to a growing deficit. Instead of making the hard decision of staff cuts they impacted the children instead
California public schools lost 382,000 students in eight years and added 41,000 staff who don’t even teach.

This, to me, shows the lack of true leadership at the helm of these companies. The only folks to blame are the people on the boards of @OpenAI and @AnthropicAI for allowing the current leadership to let this get out of hand. The “woe is me” narrative needs to stop.
