Yes inflation was a bigger political problem for Harris than Gaza. Did not realize this was controversial!
Tim Miller of The Bulwark suggests inflation from stimulus checks may be more at fault for Dems loss in 2024 than Gaza: Tim: "Are you ready for a disagreement I'm not gonna paper over? The Biden stimulus was way too big and juiced inflation and did not help at all. So, oops." Kyle Kulinski: "I mean, it was people's only lifeline. That's how people survived during COVID." Tim: "Yeah but it lead to a lot of inflation that people really didn't like in the end. So, anyway..."

People in the comments are really showing that they have no idea what happened in the housing bubble.
Philadelphia is preparing to become the first city in the nation to offer this mortgage model, with lower interest rates, no private mortgage insurance, and credit scores as low as 620.

I'm just realizing we are going to pay fucking tariffs on these aren't we🤦‍♂️
Here’s an inside (first) look at one of the Exo cars from Montreal! SEPTA crews are currently working hard to get these ready for service. This includes installing a Positive Train Control system, shortening exterior doors to accommodate higher platforms, and (as you can see) changing the signage from French to English! The Exo coach cars will operate with #SEPTA’s existing push/pull locomotives and join the ten railcars leased from Maryland Area Regional Commuter Rail (MARC) last November. Funding for the purchase of the railcars comes from the nearly $220 million in additional capital dollars allocated by Governor Josh Shapiro in November 2025 to support urgent safety upgrades and infrastructure improvements. Restez à l'affût des mises à jour! #ISEPTAPHILLY #Accelerate

People on the left need to recognize that not putting enough money into Florida (or SC or MS) is a DIRECT RESULT of them pushing bad candidates in Michigan, Maine and Minnesota. Not having to play defense on home turf frees up money to go on offense for those reach states.
I have a feeling Florida might turn out to be a real missed opportunity for Dems on election night, in terms of not putting more money and attention behind Nixon in particular, but the statewide races in general. “Surprisingly close losses” feels increasingly likely there.

Is not having a chance at a Senate blowout worth moving Michigan and Minnesota from the 20th most progressive Senators to the 7th most progressive? You decide!

Moderate liberals like Curtis Yarvin lmao
We are moderate liberals, and our books contain moderate liberal ideas. Data Republican, Curtis Yarvin, Nick Land, Martin Sellner, Steve Sailer, Paul Gottfried, John Derbyshire, Justin Lee, Taki, and the rest of our authors are moderate liberals. Is publishing the original text of The Hardy Boys radical?

Why are you attacking AES supporters like Stevens? Do you want Mike Rogers to win?
Ridiculous. For all the folks still pretending El-Sayed’s race is the same as Cooper’s or Peltola’s, do they have former Dem rivals refusing to fully endorse them on national TV? ‘Blue no matter who’ was a hypocritical centrist lie and this hypocrisy may hurt Dems in 2028.

It's pretty sad how far Mehdi has fallen. I don't think I can consider him a serious journalist after the way he has been acting this cycle. Just constant obfuscation and obvious dodging of points. He should be treated as a hostile actor with a malign agenda.
“Former statewide incumbents” is the phrase I used to Yglesias which you professed not to hear and/or understand. You’re a bad faith actor. Comparing a guy who was a two term governor of his state to a guy who has never served in any, let alone statewide, office and asking why aren’t they equally popular is disingenuous, dumb, or both.

It is even more barbaric and unjustifiable with this context!
For those of you who are still being mislead by the fake news of the execution in Saudi. Here is what really happened. Now judge it yourself. Nazrul Islam and Sithi Akter, two Bangladeshi nationals employed as cleaning workers for the Bin Laden Group in Mecca, became romantically involved while commuting to work. Nazrul lived in a residential villa in Hayyal Iskan, while Sithi resided in Batha Kuraysh. In May 2023, the two engaged in illicit relations in a secluded stairwell room between Gates 85 and 87 of Masjidul Haram. Nazrul had asked an Indian acquaintance to stand guard downstairs, but the friend secretly recorded the encounter on video. Later, when the Indian national attempted to make advances toward Sithi and was rejected, he leaked the video online. The video quickly went viral, prompting immediate intervention by Saudi authorities, who successfully apprehended all three individuals. The Indian national received a 20-year prison sentence for recording and distributing the footage. Nazrul Islam and Sithi Akter were detained immediately following their arrest in May 2023. Nazrul had originally arrived in Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh between November 10 and 13, 2022. Following his arrest in May 2023, he remained incarcerated throughout a lengthy three-and-a-half to four-year judicial process leading up to October 2026. Throughout this period, official protocol dictated that the Saudi government notify the employer (sponsor) rather than foreign government authorities. Various rumors circulated online falsely claiming that the individuals were pilgrims performing Umrah or that the charges stemmed merely from public displays of affection. While the defendants were unmarried, the severity of the legal outcome was not solely based on the act of zina (adultery). Because the offense took place within the sacred precincts of Masjidul Haram, the court determined that they had severely violated the sanctity and honor of Islam's holiest mosque. Consequently, senior judges of the Supreme Court handed down the death penalty as an exemplary punishment aligned with Quranic principles and the Sunnah.

Saudi confirmed Oct 14 2026 execution of Nazrul Islam and Siti Akhtar for indecent act in Mecca mosque. Official statements lack post's details of video by Indian, gates 85-87 or May 2023. Consulate: Aug 2023 detention. Narrative is unverified viral claim. spa.gov.sa/N2701392 thedailystar.net/news/work-and-…

It’s easy to hate cops. But do you have the courage to hate firefighters?
In 2005 San Francisco firefighter unions successfully pushed a proposition making it illegal to close or consolidate existing firehouses. It even prevents any apparatus from being changed. Despite some firehouses receiving < 3 calls a day. (not a typo) Since then working fires have fallen 36% (309 to 197) as medical calls increased by far more. More than a third fewer working fires. But each engine and tiller is a protected species (plus crew & exact role) and cannot ever be replaced with say, 3 ambulances and crews at ~same cost. Meanwhile you still need an ambulance for transport. Which is going to be a while because as noted in an audit they cannot “add additional ambulance shifts by re-assigning existing resources from fire”. But at least 5 guys in turnout gear can babysit with the $2.5M truck their medical kits are in.

This race being close may directly cost us one of our stretch goals in like SC MS or NE. Even if he wins selecting AES was a disaster that diverted massive amounts of resources from more competitive races. People who pushed his candidacy should be ashamed of themselves.
