Web3 × Data — Day 24/30 October 29 was a rough day for crypto. Binance, Polymarket and zkLink Nova all reported security incidents. Here's what happened: Binance: Blockchain investigators tracked approximately $6.36B in assets moving from Binance-controlled wallets. The suspected attack involved compromised employee access and internal systems. Binance said around $3B in affected assets had been frozen and pledged to cover losses. Polymarket: A compromised third-party service reportedly exposed users to malicious code, resulting in approximately $2.7M in losses across hundreds of wallets. zkLink Nova: An attacker exploited a vulnerability in its cross-chain bridge verification system, reportedly taking around $783K. Then came the CZ–Elon exchange. Elon joked about the Binance incident, prompting CZ to ask him to stop trolling at a difficult time. CZ also referenced Binance's $500M investment in Twitter, now X. What does this mean for crypto? Security breaches can weaken investor confidence, increase selling pressure and trigger liquidations in leveraged markets. They also raise questions about exchange security, third-party services and cross-chain infrastructure. The data matters: Different attacks, different vulnerabilities, but one recurring lesson: understanding crypto requires looking beyond token prices. We need to examine wallet movements, transaction patterns, fund flows and security failures to understand what is actually happening. Less hype. More data. 📊
