In the entire history of British Columbia, Jimmy Pattison’s contributions will span many chapters and David Eby’s contributions will be a tragic footnote.
The big grocery chains are charging too much for the essentials. I won't back down from fighting for lower grocery costs and lower gas prices for you and your family, every single day.

Breathtaking hypocrisy. A central criticism of MAGA is that it has degraded democratic norms. That's *exactly* what Eby has done with this transparently cynical election call chosen for only one reason: to exploit a pending leadership change in his main opposition party. Principled voices across the political spectrum should denounce this assault on longstanding democratic norms.
Trump is attacking our jobs, driving up our costs and threatening our ability to make decisions for ourselves, in our own country, for our own people. He wants to make Canada and B.C. an extension of America. For B.C. and for Canada, this is an existential moment. We have to decide as a province how we respond, and British Columbians deserve a say. That's why today I called an election for October 24. When Trump came after Canada, I didn't flinch. We pulled American liquor off the shelves and hit back where it hurt. I'm working with the Prime Minister to hold the line, and we've got a plan to stand up to Trump, protect workers and businesses, and build a stronger B.C. that's less dependent on the U.S. It's making a difference. But the job is far from done. The conservative parties would cozy up to Trump, make cuts, raise costs and invite U.S. corporations into our health care. With Trump at our door, we cannot afford their chaos. That's the choice in front of us. Join me in standing up for Canada, in saying hell no to Donald Trump and his politics, and in building a stronger B.C. for all of us.

Two years into a mandate and with the Official Opposition without a leader this has to be the most cynical election call ever to happen in Canada. Eby is treating BC voters like they are stupid, and I don't think it's going to work out for him.
It’s a go. Premier David Eby will deliver an address. A media availability will follow.  Location: Government House, 1401 Rockland Avenue, Victoria BC Time: 12:15 PM

Two views held simultaneously by many progressives: 1. The public education system is a tool of white supremacy 2. The public system must have a monopoly
Ontario teachers told they serve white supremacist system that must be destroyed. This is according to an image shared on Wednesday by commentator Jonathan Kay, provided to him by an Ontario teacher, which reads: 'Education is an instrumental tool for maintaining and furthering the ideology of white supremacy' nationalpost.com/opinion/ont…

The 8/8/8 Alberta Tax proposal. Proud of this work with Ken Boessenkool @KenBoessenkool and Trevor Toombe @trevortombe The plan is to implement: 8pc corporate tax rate 8pc personal income tax 8pc GST/PST - In 2019 Alberta cut the corporate rate from 12 to 8. Within 3 years we were making more revenue at the lower tax rate. Companies earned more and invested more. Jobs and the economy grew faster and more revenue was earned by the govt on the lower rate because of the expanded economic activity. 8pc personal income tax is a huge opportunity to create a similar expansive economic growth for Alberta families to take home more to save, spend and invest. An 8pc blended (5pc GST + 3pc PST) will add the consumption tax contributions of millions of tourists and business travellers to offset the lower personal rate to Albertans. Detail in the article here in the Hub: thehub.ca/2026/09/17/8-8-8-a…

What a brilliant expression of judicial humility at a time when so many judges regard themselves as infallible, unaccountable legislators! Every judge in Canada should read this decision. Those judges who desperately want to determine public policy can do so: resign from the bench, put your name on a ballot, persuade your fellow citizens, and get a democratic mandate.
From the decision today: "Now, courts learn a great deal about a matter in the course of judicial review proceedings, and judges may be tempted to comment on matters of policy. The temptation to do so may be great; judges may suppose that they have much to offer to public policy debate. But the temptation must be resisted. It is not just that courts have no expertise in policy making – no expertise in making the sorts of polycentric decisions that legislatures make routinely. It is illegitimate for courts to involve themselves in matters of legislative policy. Policy is for politics. Whether courts think legislation is wise or unwise, is irrelevant so far as its constitutionality is concerned, and constitutionality is the only question with which courts are legitimately concerned"

Most Albertans have probably seen the headlines about companies wanting to invest in and build AI data centres in Alberta. Many Albertans are excited about that, but others have legitimate questions. Here are the answers to 6 common questions on everything from power to water to land use and how these investments will financially benefit our province now and in the future.

I’ll state it plainly: the Left in this country has a poorly veiled problem with anti-Semitism.
CBC’s @markusoff reposting Robyn Urback calling it a “dumb capitulation” for Nenshi to apologize for taking a photo with the representative of a country committing genocide. Wow. Revealing!
