Finally some peace and quiet.
LMFAO -- Trump is holding an event at the White House right now but there's no audio because the press pool isn't there. The Newsmax host notes that this is an example of Trump's attacks on the press "backfiring just a little bit"

WE WERE BORN & RAISED HERE, YOU DUMB BITCH
If your argument is that Indians graduate from top universities, achieve exceptional test scores, and go on to earn six-figure salaries, then why not take those skills back to the country you claim to love and use them to help repair it?

Breaking: Aaron Donald is coming out of retirement and returning to the Rams on a one-year, $20M deal that with incentives could be worth up to $30M, per @RapSheet and @AdamSchefter.

Today is World Photography Day and I am going to share 4 of my favorite cityscapes from Los Angeles the city I call home. I’ve spent 15+ years trying to document LA from unique angles capturing the best light and conditions that truly show off the impact of living here. The first captures the Torrance refinery, the LA skyline and the San Gabriel mountains after a massive blizzard dumped record level snowfall. Everything aligned for this shot with the sunrise light hitting the steam as well as a plane flying through the break in the clouds. The perfect industrial and nature juxtaposition and proud to say this is hanging in several offices of those who work at the refinery. The second photo is the quintessential “Bay to LA” photo spanning from the Pacific Ocean, Redondo Beach, the LA skyline and the snow capped San Gabriel mountains in the back. The saying that you can hit the surf and the snow in a day is depicted in this photo. The third is a heavy realization that fire season is a thing and only gets worse every year. This photo documented the Bridge Fire in 2024 that burned around 60,000 acres in the Angeles National Forest and I scouted out a location to align the LA skyline in front of it. This photo always sparks debate about fire management and the threat of living in LA. The last photo captures what we call cloudfall at the Griffith observatory which is probably my favorite place to photograph at sunrise. Capturing the cloud inversion here is hit or miss and highly depends on weather and cloud height. For this brief moment the fog pushed in at just the right height making it look like it was seeping down the hills and running through the Observatory. The pre dawn lights glowed through the fog creating an ethereal feeling to the shot. I’ll post some portrait/vertical favorites of LA as a follow on but hope you enjoy these. Would love to see any of your favorite photos as we celebrate photography today.

I'm listening to the LA mayoral debate and just heard one of the most insane questions of my political life: "What have you done to protect single family homes?" This is the most NIMBY boomer question Your housing is unaffordable because of the assumption that single family homes should be "protected" and other forms housing (row houses, apartments, duplexes, high-rises) should be ILLEGAL -- which is the case in every city in America If you want prices to come down, you have to LET CITIES BUILD

In June I asked El-Sayed about Rs potentially using his whole name (or the fact that his brother is named Osama) against him. His answer: “I hope that they will. Yeah, my name is Abdul. I’ll say the whole thing: Abdulrahman Muhammad El-Sayed, and I want you to have health care, because you know what? Chances are, you probably had a doctor you trust with a name like mine.”
Subtle stuff from the NRSC. Having referred to him up to this point as "Abdul El-Sayed" in its press releases, the committee this morning goes with "Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed"

Watching the USMNT backups get 93% of the way to scoring a goal and then rapidly fucking up really bringing me back to every USMNT match I’ve ever watched before the past two weeks.

forcing Egypt and Iran to play a "Pride Match" in Seattle is hands-down the greatest thing I've ever seen, bravo, i hope they lose their minds
The Iran Football Federation wants FIFA to prevent any “ceremonies or promotional activities” in support of the LGBTQ+ community at a much discussed “Pride Match” between Egypt and Iran on Friday in Seattle, as well as restricting symbols or representations of the Pride movement at Lumen Field. Since Seattle was confirmed to have a June 26 World Cup fixture, the city’s host committee has been preparing activations to mark the occasion, with the match at Lumen Field fixed as Egypt vs. Iran following the draw last December. FIFA told The Athletic on Wednesday it is permitting rainbow flags at all of its World Cup matches this summer. More from @AdamCrafton_ 🔗 nyti.ms/3QJ7gUh

Because of the new tiebreaker Mexico has clinched their group and can rest their entire team. Czechia in turn has a really good shot at getting 3 points in a game they would’ve been massive underdogs in. FIFA really didn’t think this one through.
Am I the only one that didn’t know that FIFA changed the first tiebreaker to H2H this year and not goal differential? This is gonna lead to a bunch of good teams clinching after 2 games, resting starters, and gifting teams wins/ties in the 3rd game and that affects everyone.
