I don’t claim to know what happened, but pushing documentaries out as fast as possible before a trial seems bad if you care about due process.
If she were an unknown actress, it’d be no big deal. But we all know what Jennifer Lawrence looks like, and this doppelganger does not look like Jennifer Lawrence.
The only thing progressive Hollywood likes more than moralizing is money.
Ironically, films like TAR exist, and someone like Lawrence could lend her name to smaller indies that struggle to find financing. But the number of roles is much smaller, as is the paycheck.
Selection bias. Horror is the easiest thing to get financed without big attachments, so there are more high-profile, low-budget indie horror than other genres.
This is a brutal industry, and clutching onto a simulacrum of youth can determine whether or not you book an interesting role.
But since Lawrence is putting this out there, I have to say that her new face looks oddly like Taissa Farmiga.

This is a medical scandal of historic proportions, and it’s a crime that the only notable documentary we have is a goofy Matt Walsh talking head film.
