Establishment figures like Francis Collins are so out of touch: "It breaks my heart that we've not really been able to have sort of a national non-political retrospective on what happened with covid and all the things that went right-- and there were a lot of them. I would say the development of the mRNA vaccine in 11 months is probably the most amazing scientific achievement since records have been kept about humanity, in terms of the lives that were saved. But there was stuff that went wrong and caused 230,000 people in this country to die unnecessarily because they didn't trust the vaccines despite all the evidence that supported them. Yeah, if we could have that kind of really thoughtful, not political reconsideration of the lessons, that would help. That doesn't seem like we're going to have the chance to do that. The only efforts to do that have completely been driven by political perspectives by people who want to score points"
