Nobel Prize-winning economist rethinks his previous disdain for unions: “Their decline is contributing to the falling wage share, to the widening gap between executives and workers, to community destruction, and to rising populism.” imf.org/en/publications/fand…

It sounds like she's running around with a boy-toy lobbyist, pushing his company, and threatening to overthrow governments if they don't go along with her demands. Great exposé.
This extraordinary @WSJ investigation will leave your head spinning. The clearest and most detailed expose so far of how the Trump syndicate operates.

“Before Jimmy spent a lifetime singing about boats, beaches, and faraway places, he was shaped by stories much closer to home. The show is called Jimmy Buffett: Son of a Son of a Sailor. It’s at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf." @ALAPublicRadio

On many days, if you ask me what my favorite JB song is, this is the answer you'll get! Jimmy often said it was one of his favorites too.

But now I think about the good times,
Down in the Caribbean sunshine,
In my younger days I was so bad,
Laughin’ about all the fun we had

The oldest oral story.
Australian Aboriginal groups preserved oral stories describing land that existed where the ocean is today. People walked and hunted there. Then they talk of a time when the sea came in and swallowed it.
Researchers compared stories from 21 locations around Australia with actual sea level data and underwater geography. Some of those stories appear to describe coastlines that disappeared between roughly 7,000 and 13,000 years ago.
It was the end of the last Ice Age. Melting ice sheets raised global sea levels and flooded huge areas of coastal land. The great flood.
Around Port Phillip Bay, Aboriginal tradition says the bay was once dry land where people hunted kangaroos and emus. The water broke through and flooded the country. Geological evidence shows Port Phillip really was dry during the late Ice Age before rising seas filled it.
Someone actually watched that happen.
They told their children and then those children told theirs.
The story may have survived for hundreds of generations, all the way back to around 11,000 BCE.
Hmmm.
What does that clue tell us?

What a day it’s been. My dear friend Sam left us today. I can’t believe we will no longer be eating great food together and sharing the odd glass of wine down at his winery, while laughing, singing and solving the problems of the world together. Sam was a big part of our lives. He was family. He lifted our spirits when he walked in the room. Sam was everything he appeared to be on the screen. Caring, funny, intelligent, charming, honest, talented, the list could go on. He sat with me while I recovered in hospital and I sat with him when he needed me. We shared a lot in this life and for that, I will be always thankful. Rest easy, dear Sam. You are always in our hearts.

Sam Neill was 1 of the greatest, most versatile actors. He nailed comedies, period piece dramas & psychologically taut horror with ease. Dead Calm, Hunt For The Wilderpeople & Possession are my faves. A funny story about sitting next to Princess Diana @ Jurassic Park #RIPSamNeill
